Sam Cavell could hardly stand still. He was about to go down in history as the first human to make proper contact with the Eraxi. He and the 5 other members of the delegation was just minutes away from landing at the space port of the Eraxi homeworld, Eraxus. The Eraxi was a humanoid race, and not so unlike humans. They had the same basic, so it was no need for any special accommodations like air suits or expensive habit dome to live in. To make time go faster Sam went over what he knew about the Eraxi in his head. They breath air and drink water, similar food, at times remarkably like Indian food. wealthy, from decades of surplus production of food for export to other races. Homeworld Eraxus three times bigger than Earth, but with equal population. Nature and animal life remarkably similar to earth.
A red light began to flash, signaling that they were just seconds away from docking.
The Eraxus space port was a large space station going in orbit around the largest of Eraxus three moons. A thud and a jolt and the door began to open.
Sam took a deep breath, adjusted the tie on his suit and prepared to be the first human to meet an Eraxi face to face, or at least face to chest, as Eraxi was taller than humans.
The door opened all the way, and Sam stepped out, followed by the rest of the delegation. The Eraxi was waiting for them. Sam took in the sight, tall human like beings. Their build was mostly like humans, but they were taller, had longer necks, 7 fingers on each hand, their nose was just to holes located under their moth, and their ears were high on their head, covered by hair. Their hair color was mostly dark green dark purple, but apart from color it was like human hair. The only other thing Sam noted was that they were all quite overweight, the smallest of them sporting a belly the size of a football.
Sam walked 3 steps toward the leader of the greeters. He then bowed his head. The leader of their greeters, a hugely fat Eraxi, walked or more precise waddled, three steps toward Sam and bowed his head. Then they both looked up, walked to the middle of the room and shook hands, the tradional Eraxi way was to press their foreheads into each other, but the height diffrence made that difficult, so the Eraxi had offered to adapt the human handshake when welcoming humans.
The leader turned and began walking towards the door, motioning for Sam to follow, according to Eraxi custom, it was rude to talk to special guests until you had offered them food, and it was also terribly rude do decline this offer.
Sam and the rest of the delegation followed the Eraxi delegation into a room where they found...
