"I think you should just let yourself go," you say.
"I should?" Your dad says, almost sounding like he's genuinely considering it. He shakes his head to clear his thoughts. "But I've gotten so big. If I get any bigger it'll be hard to lose it all!"
"Who cares? You hate going to the gym, remember?"
"Well that's true," he admits, "but it's healthier to be thin."
"It's unhealthy to not be happy! My health teacher told me that. And eating a lot and not going to the gym makes you happy, right?"
Your dad groaned a little in frustration. "But son, you know I'm trying to find someone who's interested in me... you know, like someone I can date?"
You pout and start playing with your dad's belly with both hands. "But Dad, you already have me! And I like your belly! It's soft and fun to play with and it makes you look all sophisticated! Who wouldn't want that?"
Your dad smiles warmly at your affection. "It does?" Your dad cocks his head.
"Yeah! Like those fancy rich people on tv! They all have big round bellies!" You grin. "And the bigger they are the cooler!"
"Huh, I guess I never thought of it that way." Your dad says. He scratches his chin, and you wonder if he's pondering your suggestion.
"Think about it, Dad. You could go to the gym, be miserable and lose weight, and then have to keep going to the gym and eating boring diet stuff. Or instead, you could keep eating whatever you want, not have to go to the gym ever again, and be happy. And if you get bigger, who cares? It's just more belly to play with!" You lay your head down on his belly and hug it cutely.
"You know..." Your dad says, "as crazy as it sounds, when you put it that way, letting myself go sounds like a pretty good plan!" He smirks. A wide grin breaks across your face and your dad returns the smile, happy to see his decision bring you joy. "In fact," he says...
