The moon hung over Gotham's red sky as two shadowy silhouettes blurred between rooftops. Beneath them, an old, previously abandoned warehouse saw new life in it, as large wooden crates were unloaded from a still running truck.
"Do you think this is the spot?" Robin asked gleefully.
The tall dark figure beside him looked through a pair of miniature binoculars, focusing on the guards necks. A green vine was coming out from their shirt collars, and creeping into their ears.
"It's the right place," the figure said, with a respectful amount of intensity in his voice.
The larger dark figure was better known to the world as Batman, the caped crusader of Gotham, his city. With his civilian identity as billionaire playboy Bruce Wayne, he siphoned money from his own company to fund his night-time activities. Ever since Bruce's parents were shot in front of him by a mugger when he was only eight years old, he dedicated his life to freeing the city from other crimes. For a reason that will forever be unknown to the general public, he decided to fight crime while dressed as a bat. Beside him was Robin, the boy wonder. He was dressed in a black, red and yellow suit, but did not have nearly the amount of gadgets or armor that his mentor did. Robin also had a civilian identity as Dick Grayson, the ward of Bruce Wayne. He was more acrobatic than the tall man beside him, an attribute he received by training to be a circus acrobat with his parents before their untimely deaths.
With an unspoken signal, both heroes swooped down from the shadows and got into a quick scuffle with the guards. As the guards fell, they didn't make a sound. "Strange," said Batman, as he examined the unconscious guard on the floor. He plucked the vine from the ear and the guard's eyes suddenly opened wide. Batman covered the man's mouth to stop him from yelling. "Quiet," he whispered as he took the hand off of the guard's mouth.
"Where am I? What's going on?" the guard whimpered.
"It appeared you were under the influence of Gotham's famed femme fatale..."
"...Poison Ivy?" the guard finished, in both in fear and surprise.
"Go home, and take your friend with you," Batman said as he pointed to the other guard, and with the guards gone, Robin, who was acting as a look-out on top of the truck, did a mid-air somersault and landed on one of the crates. With less distractions, Batman began to become more aware of his surroundings, and let Robin look through the cargo being transported.
"What do you see?" Bruce asked after Robin rummaged through the evidence.
"Packages of seeds, extra strength mineral growing water," Robin replied as he held up a container, "And this."
"Careful Robin," said the caped crusader as the biological hazard symbol caught his eye.
"I'm always careful," Robin smirked as he tossed it into the air and caught the canister behind his back.
"There's probably more clues inside. Find a safe place to hide that, and we'll check out what's inside the warehouse."
Robin tucked the container into a pocket in his cape, and merged into the shadows as he was taught to do.
Undetected, the two crime fighters made it inside, and hid between the piles of crates until something caught their attention. "There are giant vines growing between these crates," Robin stated. Batman merely gave him a stern look, disappointed that his partner broke silence to point out the obvious. Unfortunately, most of Bruce's expressions looked the same, and no one besides himself could ever tell what he was thinking.
"Soon, soon the city of sisters will be at one with nature!" A familiar voice echoed from deeper within the shadows.
"Indeed Pamela, indeed," said the person at the other end of the conversation. Robin looked through the cracks in the crates. The woman known as Poison Ivy was speaking into a portable computer. More brainwashed guards where unpacking the crates around her. The containers of chemicals were being carefully put on the table housing her computer.
Pamela Lillian Isley was an ex-biochemist turned eco-terroritst after a chemical explosion at a lab made her skin a shade of green. She developed an extra-human ability to talk to and control plants, and was known throughout the criminal community to be an expert in the art of seduction.
"Now, while she's distracted Robin," said Batman quietly before they both leaped into action.
"Pamela Isley, your reign of wretched root growing carnage is about to be plucked!"
"Batman? What took you so long?" asked Ivy in a rather suggestive voice. Batman flung himself out of the way, as two vines flew at him. Meanwhile, Robin managed to take down one of the guards.
"What's happening?" the guard screamed in surprise as Robin took a vine out of his ear.
This distracted Ivy, and Robin thought he'd get her attention by jump kicking the other guard in the back.
"Robin, careful," shouted Batman as the guard dropped one of the containers with a bio-hazard sign on it.
"Relax, I got it," said Robin and he dove down and caught the container before it broke on the ground.
"Is that so?" smirked Ivy, as a vine whipped the containers off of the table, causing them to break in front of Robin.
A purple gas seemed to come from the broken capsules. "Robin," Batman yelled, "Hold your breath!" In response, Robin covered himself with his cape as he tried to roll away. "No more games Isley!" Batman grabbed the eco-terrorist by her soft wrists.
"It's been a while since you held me this way, big boy," Ivy replied playfully.
