Suddenly a flower that Poison Ivy kept in her hair opened, and Batman's eyes were attacked by pollen. Instinctively he let go of her to try and rub them. He quickly regained his composure, and grabbed a miniature spray can from utility belt, and pointed it towards his face. With a squirt, he could instantly see again, but Ivy was already growing a giant stalk of some sort through a hole in the roof of the old crumbling warehouse.
"Too late to catch her," he thought to himself, "Must check on Robin."
"Robin are you okay?" Batman yelled.
"Fine," Robin replied as he looked up from his cape. He was a good fifty yards from where the chemicals were released.
"We should evacuate and call in a HAZMAT team," Batman yelled at the guards, slightly disappointed by his failure to capture the criminal, and in response, everyone quickly exited the building.
"Stop worrying about me Batman," Robin said as Batman expressed his concern for his partner.
"Lover's quarrel?" one of the guards joked, and in response, Batman immediately turned to glare at him, shutting the guard straight up.
"Call the Gotham City Police, tell them what you saw here," Batman grunted.
"Right," the guard replied, but as he turned back to ask another question, he realized that all that was around him were shadows.
At the Batcave, the cavern below Bruce Wayne's family estate of Wayne Manor, which acted as the guy's center of operations, Bruce sat in front of his giant computer, looking at Robin. Both vigilantes were unmasked, and they could now read each others' emotions.
"You were too reckless out there, we were dealing with an unknown substance during that battle, your actions not only allowed for me to be distracted to the point where Isley got away, but also put yourself within contact on an unknown chemical being gathered by an eco-terrorist."
"Nothing happened, okay Bruce? We stopped her plan and cut off her supplies. I took precautions, and I didn't get exposed to the chemical," Dick replied, agitated by his mentor's behavior.
"Sometimes I wonder if you're too young to be doing these things we me."
"Sometimes I wonder if I wouldn't be more successful patrolling on my own."
The two looked at each other, each trying to keep their emotions in check.
"It's been a long night, we'll talk more in the morning." Dick didn't want to argue. He was tired, and even though he wouldn't admit it to anyone, the close exposure he had to the chemicals creeped him out. There were rumors that Poison Ivy was experimenting on turning people into plants. He became freaked out at the thought of what could have happened if he had been exposed.
Taking off his uniform, he walked up a staircase and stepped into a passageway leading to Wayne Manor.
