(Back there, i meant LIKE Something Borrowed with her being an alien surrogate, but this is for a dying race, not one that will kill her.)
It was a normal day in Torchwood, where Gwen Cooper was tracking an alien. She had gotten word that it was hiding in a house outside of downtown Cardiff. When she got to the house, she found an old, abandoned, two story house that must have been there since the fifties. She walked out her car, made sure her gun was ready in case anything went south, and went to the door. What surprised her was that the door open. She walked through the house, keeping her ear out for something weird. Up until she heard a loud wheezing coming from upstairs.
Cautiously, she crept up the stairs to the second floor. She walked up to the door where the wheezing was the loudest. With her gun in her hand, she kicked open the door. What was on the other side surprised her completely. Laying on the bed, under the blankets was a blue skinned woman with elf like ears, white hair, and a two inch long nose. The alien looked up when Gwen kicked down the door.
"Please..." said the alien weakly. "Don't... shoot..."
"Sorry," Gwen said as she put away her gun and walked over to the bed. "Are you all right?"
"I'm dying," the alien said.
"Don't worry," Gwen kneeled down so she was face to face with the alien. "My name is Gwen. I'm with Torchwood. We're a group of people who monitor alien activity on Earth. We can help you. What's your name?"
"I'm Reyax," the alien said. "If your curious of my species, I'm a Zerrinax. Unfortunately, I'm one of the last of my species. I can live up to three thousand years, but i caught an illness on this planet when i ate dairy."
"Are you allergic to it?" Gwen asked.
"Deathly allergic." Reyax answered. "It's killing me right now. I don't have a lot of time left."
"There must be something i can do." Gwen said.
Reyax considered this for a moment before she decided of something.
"There might be." Reyax. "I can't let my species die. Through mind waves, i can probably have you surrogate some more Zerrinax."
Gwen looked a little nervous when she said that.
"I don't know," Gwen said. "There's so much going on in my life. I don't think i can get pregnant right now. I mean are Zerrinax and Humans even compatible?"
"Actually, yes." Reyax said. "You wouldn't really be the first. Besides, it isn't really that different than human pregnancies."
"What differences are there?"
"Well, for one thing, the gestation period varies. The shortest on record is six months. But the longest is fourteen months. But the biggest difference is in the cravings and weight gain. You would be carrying up to three Zerrinax. You would get hungry easily and will want to eat more the next time you eat. You would gain a lot of weight. But every pound would come off when you gave birth. Another difference is the morning sickness. According to records, it only lasts the first trimester during a human pregnancy."
"How long does it last with you guys?" Gwen asked, unhappily. "Two trimesters? The whole pregnancy?"
"Three weeks." Reyax answered.
Gwen's eyes widened. "Really?"
"Really," Reyax answered. "So, do you want to do it?"
Gwen considered this for a moment. She did want to help Reyax, but she didn't know if she was telling the truth about everything.
"Give me a minute to call my boss." Gwen said. "Not trying to be rude, but we've faced loads of aliens that lied to our faces before. We don't really want that to happen again. You understand, of course?"
"Completely." Reyax said. "I get it. We're a peaceful species, so thousands of others have tried to wipe out our race. I get it. You want to make sure i'm not like them."
"Yes," Gwen said. "Thanks for understanding."
Gwen walked into the hallway to contact Jack. When she told him about everything Reyax told her, he understood it all.
"The Zerrinax are the second most peaceful species after the Zenitos. If she says she needs your help, then she's telling the truth. We have to help her."
"But why do i have to be the one who bees the surrogate?" Gwen asked him.
"Zerrinax only pass on children to people they trust completely. Only to people they trust with their lives. She trusts you. You have to be the one."
"Fine." Gwen said, depressed that he gave a good answer. "But i will only do it if you give me a paid vacation to a five star hotel when i'm nearing the end. You have to agree to pay for everything, no matter how expensive."
"Okay," Jack said, not fazed at all.
"But she tells me that i'll get really hungry, and eat even more with every meal."
"A friend of mine owes me two BILLION dollars. I doubt you"ll spend that much on food."
"Huh." Gwen said, actually happy. "This actually might not be so bad after all."
She hung up and went back in the room with Reyax.
"I've confirmed it with my boss: Your telling the truth... I'll do it."
"Excellent." Reyax said. "Thank you, Gwen. Thank you so much."
"So... how do we do this?"
"Come here."
Gwen walked over to Reyax and kneeled so she was face to face with her again. Reyax put both her hands on the sides of Gwen's head. Gwen could feel her teeth vibrating as their brain waves connected. When Reyax was done, Gwen passed out. | Members who added to this interactive story also contributed to these: |
