Naruto stared at her for a moment, making her wonder just what he would say, what his answer would be.
When he bowed his head, she thought the answer was no, until she saw the look in his eyes. It wasn't sympathy or sorrow, nor was it nervousness. It was shame, "...Naruto?" Hinata prompted in concern.
"Hinata, I...I would be more than honored to be your boyfriend," Naruto answered softly, still looking down.
"But....?" Hinata asked, her confusion over riding her worry over just what he saw as a problem.
Naruto sighed heavily, "Its just that, after all those years, never noticing you pinning for me? Someone that could love me, one thing I wanted more thanbeing Hokage? Hinata....I don't think I'm worthy of you after all that," Naruto confessed solemnly.
Hinata starred in shock. Naruto? Not worthy? It was hard for her to imagine him feeling that way. It was even a bit ironic since she use to feel the reverse at times. The question was, what to do about it? The first thing to do was to slap some sense into Naruto, telling him he IS worthy of her- or at least that was for her to decide.
But than she hesitated. There was the other option. If Naruto didn't feel worthy, if he felt guilty about ignoring her feelings, the straight forward solution would be to have him make it up to her, to be worthy of her.
She had to giggle in the back of her head: both option made it seem like she might be the one leading this relationship.
