Half dragon half human but stonger than both.
This choice: The visitor is Clarina Bruskolov  •  Go Back...
Chapter #5

A Heart to Heart Conversation

    by: Unknown
After a close inspection you identify the visitor to be Princess Clarina Bruskolov herself. She was wearing the same white armor as before, however this time she had a sword on her person.

"Greetings Lord Huntfire. I do not mean to intrude, but I thought it would be best to thank you again."

"Are you sure this isn't an attempt to buddy up with me because you think I'm lonely?" You asked as you saw through her greeting.

"So what if it is. We're that different in some aspects of our upbringing."

"How so?"

"Even though I have a father he never spent any time with me. He's always spending time with my cousins or his personal guards. His glowing purple eyes always look on with disapproval. If he does want to spend time with me it's usually to extort me for my natural abilities."

"He's a king and your a princess. He's only doing what's in your best interest."

"How do you explain the fact that he left me all alone in the forest when I was five. I was lucky to find my way back. That fraud of a king was too busy pleasuring his concubines. Have you ever seen him at least embrace me in a hug? No, he didn't even do that. All my life I've been alone. It was nothing but reading, swordplay, and magic, but without the embrace of the man who should always be there it felt like I was being trained as a weapon." Clarina said as she tried holding back her tears.

You begin feeling sorry for her. It didn't occur to you that the king just saw his daughter as just a mere flower to be tossed away.

"I've had it worse as you've heard. As soon as I was born my mother chewed on my body with her teeth, threw me off a cliff, and left me to die. Upon growing up I learned to trust no one. People were always trying to kill me or sometimes exploit me. Yet in the end...", You feel yourself at a loss for words as your own loneliness took over. You haven't cried since you were twelve but you felt the strange desire to let it all out.

You try holding back your own tears, but find yourself unable to. Were you and the princess who stood before you no different? You then notice Clarina besides you. How she approached you so quickly surprised you.

"It's okay Havorok. Just left it all out. As your friend I'll always be there till the very end. That's what friends do."

You smile at Clarina's gesture. In all your life you haven't known what kindness was. None of the prior Dark Hunter Kings even knew the concept, yet they should have. Instead they lived the similar lifestyle you did.

"Recently I've been looking more into my family history and the Light Knight Dragons that once lived among your kind. I've found some information that explains my father's motivations."

"What info is that? I may already know it."

"You have a point Havorok, but did you know that all men in my family have purple eyes while the women have yellow eyes. I also found out that Light Knight Queens are the only ones of that race of dragon to have green eyes. Given this info then the rumors about my family once being able to turn into dragons at will must be true."

"Is that so? Wouldn't that mean you would have draconic powers. If I remember the legends correctly the Light Knight Queen always maintained these powers in her human form unlike the other Light Knight Dragons."

"That's correct, but Light Knight Queens don't possess genetic memory. The only thing passed down from previous Queens are adaptability, intellect, and the ability to copy any skill they see, except shapeshifting."

"If that's true then you have to go to the temple to have your shapeshifting ability restored."

"That's right. It was a pleasure talking to you. If you need to talk before we meet for the expedition then I'm available."

Clarina then waves her hand and she disappears before your eyes. So that's how she made it in. For once you actually felt happy. Maybe after the expedition and the rumors are true you might even wed this princess, but before thinking about that you'll fix the wrongdoings of your mother. Surely her reign over the Dark Hunters must come to an end and the era of Dark Hunter Kings to begin. Deep inside you knew that if male Dark Hunters weren't malnourished that they can match a female in size and power. Deep inside you wanted a Dark Hunter society where both male and female were capable of standing on their own and proving their worth. Yet it is that reason you spare a few people during your quests; for some reason you always saw a person's true potential.

You have the following choices:

*Noteb*
1. A few days later you begin the expedition

*Noteb*
2. Two days later you go to the royal palace to discuss the expedition

*Noteb* indicates the next chapter needs to be written.
