Harry was sitting in the Gryffindor common room. He was the only one in there and he was thankful for the quiet as he was trying to study. He heard some footsteps coming into the room, but he didn't bother to look up and see who it was. With any luck, they would see he was busy and not try to start up a conversation or anything. The steps grew closer and a shadow fell across the pages. Looking up, he saw Hermione with on hand on her hip and the other holding out a tin can with SPEW on the side in bright blue letters.
"Care to make a donation?" She asked in a tone that implied that this was not actually a question.
"I already gave two sickles when I joined." Harry said as he looked down at his book. "Remember?"
"Yes, well, funds are low and we need more money for flyers that I plan on putting around school and in Hogsmeade."
Harry kept trying to read as he responded, "Seriously Hermione, this whole crusade of yours is kinda pointless; the house-elves love serving wizards. Now can I please get back to studying?" Harry paused to consider the role reversal in this situation. It was usually him interrupting her when she studied.
"You just don't understand! These are creatures compelled by magic to serve others! They need to be freed!"
"No, I don't guess I do understand, but I do understand that I have a test tomorrow in potions and I've put off studying until now."
Hermione threw the empty SPEW can on the ground. "I'll make you understand! She whipped out her wand and with a complex swish, she let loose a new spell she had researched in the library. It would enslave him to her until she freed him with a piece of clothing as if he were a house-elf.
