It was me, Alan Davies. With a very low amount of cash to my name, I had to find ways to make more money. And when I found out how much money babysitters made, I couldn't help but try it out. And so there I was, ready to begin my first day as a babysitter, looking after a ten year old girl that I had no idea was, in fact, one of my old friends, Bryony Evans!
So without any knowledge of who's household I was in, I was welcomed into the cozy living room, where I met the mother of the child. And after a brief chat about the necessaries of looking after their child, the father called for Bryony. "Bryony," I thought to myself, "My friend has that same name!"
I looked toward the bottom of the staircase where I was introduced to the little girl that called herself Bryony. She had so many qualities that reminded me of my friend. She seemed pretty nervous meeting me, but then the parents left. They gave Bryony a kiss goodbye and were on their way, leaving me behind in their home with their daughter.
"So Bryony," I turned my attention to the little girl, who was strangely intimidated by my height, "What do you want to do first?"
"Alan, listen to me," the ten year old tried to explain to me, "It's me, Bryony Evans!"
However her statement was taken into my mind with little sincerity as a laugh. "I know," I said joyfully while rubbing her head, "And do you want to know something? You have the same name as one of my friends!"
Bryony suddenly started screaming to my face. "That's me! I'm your friend! I'm Bryony Evans!"
"I know who you are," I replied sternly, "There's no need to shout at me!"
"No! Listen to me!" The ten year old was determined to get the truth to me. "I'm your friend, Bryony Evans. This is my house. This has always been my house. But this is not me. I don't know how it happened, but I just woke up like this! Somehow I woke up six years younger, and my parents think that I've always been their ten year old daughter. And I don't know how, but you've been assigned as my babysitter! I know it sounds strange, but please, you've got to believe me!"
