Cameron gave her a skeptical look. "This isn't one of your pranks, is it? Because if I end up getting hit in the face with a whipped cream pie again, I'm walking straight back home."
Kat rolled her eyes. "That was one time, and it was hilarious." She grabbed his wrist and pulled him toward her closet. "Trust me, this is actually cool."
Cam sighed but allowed himself to be dragged along. Kat rummaged through her closet for a moment before pulling out a large, slightly worn cardboard box. She set it down in the middle of the room and patted the top of it excitedly. "Check this out."
"What is it?" Cam asked, eyeing the box warily.
Kat grinned and opened it, revealing an assortment of items inside. Cam peered in and saw what looked like an old camcorder, some costume accessories, and a few small props. "Wait, is this—?"
"Yup," Kat said proudly. "My sister's old homemade movie kit. We used to make dumb little movies when we were kids, and I just found all this stuff in storage last night. Thought it'd be fun to mess around with it again."
Cam picked up the camcorder and turned it over in his hands. "This thing looks ancient. Does it even work?"
Kat shrugged. "No clue. Haven't tested it yet. But worst case, we can just use my phone. The cool part is the costumes and props. We could film something dumb, maybe a fake action scene or a horror skit."
Cameron raised an eyebrow. "A horror skit? With what, exactly?"
Kat grinned and reached into the box, pulling out a plastic vampire cape and a cheap rubber werewolf mask. "We make do with what we got."
Cam chuckled despite himself. "This is ridiculous."
"Yeah, and?" Kat shot back. "Come on, it'll be fun. We just need a script."
Cam sighed, knowing he was getting roped into this whether he liked it or not. "Fine. But if I have to wear some embarrassing costume, I swear—"
Kat waved him off. "Relax, I'll take the embarrassing roles. Probably."
Cam shook his head but couldn't help smiling. "Alright. So, what kind of masterpiece are we making?"
Kat grinned wider. "Oh, I've got ideas."   indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
