"I heard what happened," you say, "Do you want to talk about it?"
She held her gaze for only a moment before turning away sulking down a bit where she laid. "No," was her only response. A cold and unforgiving "no." You were worried that you just lost any progress in earning her trust. Not only that, but you were truly worried Tara. You knew first hand what it was like to be treated like that. Moving a bit closer, you tried once more.
"I know that I'm definitely not you're favorite person right now, but if you need to talk... I'm hear to listen." You did your best to force a smile. Sadly, it was wasted.
"What I need is some sleep," Tara quickly snapped back, "Just leave me alone." You swear you heard a slight sniffle as she finished. You knew she didn't really mean that. After all, seldom does anyone really want to be completely alone.
You stepped closer reaching your hand out a bit, "Hey, I've been there and I know it's not fair." You pause for a moment, "People always telling you that everything you do is wrong. That your way is never going to work. And so they treat you like a child without even seeing things from your point of view.... It's not fair. "
"Don't touch me..." She whispers softly as her body tenses from your hands presence.
You smile once more, this time truly as you speak, "Trust me, it's helps to talk about stuff like this. If you don't, it'll eat you up inside." You slowly place your hand on her shoulder. Suddenly, you feel her whole body tense up all at once as she turns around faster than you could react. She slaps you across the face rather hard. Hard enough to knock up to the ground. Her face full of anger, she started shouting.
"What do you know about it?!" Tara's voice was loud and fierce, "About ME?! You're just some stupid kid who shouldn't even be here in the first place! You don't know a damn about my life, so don't come in here with your sentimental bullsh-" Tara stopped almost in the same breathe as you moved your had away from your face. Her slap had not only left claw marks, but was also slightly bleeding. The pain wasn't all that overcoming but it did sting like a the devil.
You look at our own hand for a moment and notice the light speckles of crimson here and there and determine that you must not be bleeding to badly. Though, it was enough to scare Tara.
"Oh God," the feline's tone was almost the exact opposite of what is was only a few seconds ago, "I-I'm sorry! I... I didn't mean to... It's just I- and you and..." Her began to tear up.
You did your best to give a smile tough the pain, "It's all right, I've been though worse." Quickly, the cat rushed over to look over the wound. After eying it with a panicked looked she rushed out of the room. You sat there confused and dazed, not sure what to think. You look up to see Tara hold a a small first aid kit, most likely the one from the bathroom. Shaking, she did her best to try to doctor the wound.
As she put some of the neosporin on the wound you can't help but greet your teeth. Tara looked down at wound with sadness in her eyes.
"You must hate after this... Don't you?" You stopped and looked up at her. "I don't blame you. I'm not friendly, I'm not cute and I'm not even a good friend..." You wanted to say something but the words wouldn't come. "I'm just cold, heartless, lazy, no good excuse for a cat." Slowly she began to cry, but as she did and despite her shaking, Tara did her best to mend the wound. As she was almost done, you finally found the words to say.
"I don't hate you Tara." The feline stopped dead in her place with a shocked look upon her face. "I try not to hate anyone. It's not in me. But I will say this..." You look right into her glowing yellow eyes, "You were right, I don't know a lot about you, but I want to. So will you tell me... Please?" Tara looked more shocked than she already did, completely taken back by what you said.
"Why?" was her only answer. A warm and surprised "why."
"Because, I want to be your friend."
