Chapter #4
The tentacles release you
by: Unknown
.............the tentacles at your bare torso and feet stop. A loud groan comes from the giant squid.
The rumblings of thunder sound in the distance. You grip the rock tightly as the squid disappears beneath the water.
Panting from laughing so hard, you decide to make a break for the lighthouse. You leap into the cold water and wade the few yards to the shore. You feel the cool mucky sand sink as you trudge through the waist deep water.
Luckily, you reach the shore without issue.
You still hear the rumblings of thunder in the distance. A wave of black clouds have formed a thin line on the horizon and short flashes of lightning can be seen. The thin line of clouds is slowly drawing nearer to the shore.
It'll start raining soon.
The rickety, decaying lighthouse looms right in front of you.
You hop onto the seawall and feel the soft grass beneath your feet.
Your soaked bathing suit clings to you. The damp suit along with the dropping temperature causes you to start shivering. You wrap your arms around your bare torso and start to trudge to the lighthouse.
You'll need shelter before the storm hits.
You're only a few steps from the lighthouse door.
You raise a hand and knock on the door.
The clicking of the knob turning reaches your ears. Slowly, the creaking door moans as it slowly opens.
