It had been over a year since peace had returned to Amestris after the Promised Day. This peace was accomplished largely by the Elric brothers and their heroic efforts. Things had returned mostly to normal for Edward and Alphonse, but life in Amestris was still very interesting...
Edward Elric was in a very bad mood. Just over a year ago, he was excited about finally growing taller, but now he realized that he was somehow getting shorter in height.
“How is this even possible!” Edward yelled furiously, holding a measuring stick in his hand.
“What’s wrong, Ed?” Winry called from a nearby room. She and Ed had finally moved in together after several months of awkward interactions. While they were not officially married, they had plans for a wedding in the future.
“I know I was 5 foot 8 last year, and now I’m 5 foot 5!” Ed exclaimed. “Somehow I shrunk, and I blame it on that asshole Truth.”
“You’re probably just imagining that because you can’t accept being shorter than me,” Winry responded, unaware of her mistake.
“I am NOT short!” Edward screamed in reply.
“What’s the matter, Ed?” Alphonse asked as he entered the house.
“Height problems,” Winry told him. “Not that you’d understand.”
Al, like Winry, was taller than Ed, but he towered over his brother by nearly a foot. After the Promised Day, Al, to Ed’s irritation, had a major growth spurt and quickly grew much larger than Ed.
“If you only drank your milk, this would never have happened,” the 6 foot 4 Al told Ed.
“This has nothing to do with milk!” Ed yelled. “I’m shrinking! I’m 3 inches shorter than I was last year!”
“Are you sure you haven’t always been this height?” Al asked, cockily placing his large hand on Edward’s
head.
Ed pushed Al’s hand away and sprinted out of the room angrily. Why don’t they believe me? He wondered to himself. Suddenly, Edward felt a strange sensation, almost as if his body was being compressed. He immediately fell unconscious for several seconds.
