Your mother tapped her foot, looking down on you from her place on the couch. She sighed deeply.
"You know what? I'm getting tired of this." She said, frowning at you, "I try and I try to teach you lessons, but you never seem to learn. It's getting embarrassing to call you my son."
"Mom, please, I'm sorry..." You'd never seen your mother quite like this. She could be sadistic punishing you, but she never seemed this exasperated.
"Don't lie to me, young man. If you were sorry, you wouldn't keep giving me reasons to discipline you. If you actually wanted to be treated like a member of this family, you'd act like one." She placed her feet on either side of your tiny body and flexed her large, wide toes. "Maybe that means it's time to cut you out of the family permanently."
"Wh-what? What does that mean?" You called out.
"You'll see..." Your mother glared, and then cupped her hands to her mouth, yelling out: "Giiiirls! Come down here, we have to talk."
You did not like where this was going one bit. You heard and felt the earthshaking stomping of your devious sisters marching into the room from opposite ends of the house. Your mother rose from her seat, stepped over you, and offered the couch to your sisters. They each look seats, Olivia on the left, Chelsea on the right, and Rachel in the center, her sweaty feet hovering just near your body.
"What's the deal, Mom? And where's the squirt?" Rachel asked.
"Your brother is at your feet." Your mother said.
"Oh perfect!" Rachel said, spotting you easily, "I was looking for a footstool" She lifted her foot, ready to bury you under her nasty foot flesh, but your mother interrupted.
"Not yet, dear. This is what we need to talk about." Your mom said, and Rachel's foot pulled away. "You see, your brother has brought home poor grades. Again. But since he doesn't seem to learn from his mistakes, even with our continuous punishments, I'm beginning to think he never will."
"Well duuuh," Olivia sneered, "He's as dumb as a bug. How could he possibly learn?"
"Good point, dear." Your mother smiled at your younger sister, who turned her head to stick her tongue out at you. You sighed heavily. Where was your mother going with this?
"And that's exactly what I was thinking." Your mother continued, "If your brother can't figure out how to act like an adult, even with our help, maybe it's time to stop treating him like an adult, like a member of this family, or even like a person."
"Mother, what are you getting at? Are we throwing him out? Because I can think of a better use for him than that." Chelsea said, eyeing your form and quirking her brow.
"Not quite, Chelsea. This is your brothers final punishment. After this family meeting, we will no longer treat him as anything more than an insect."
"What!?" You called out.
"This means we will not talk to him, or interact with him in anyway other than how we would deal with any other bug." She knelt down and picked up your body. Your sisters rose from their seats and looked down at you in your mom's hands.
"Seriously? You mean I won't have to hold back stomping on him?" Rachel asked, to which your mother nodded.
"This is fantastic." Chelsea said, flashing her tongue across her teeth, "He'd better hope I don't come across him with the vacuum."
"Exactly the kind of response I was hoping for." Your mother laughed deeply, looking down at you again. "After we finish this conversation, consider your humanity revoked. You're no longer my son." She paused for a moment, "How long do you think you'll last, hm? Will you end up squished under our shoes? Or maybe we'll find you crawling on the table and mash you into a napkin before throwing you out..."
"Or flushing him, if he's in the bathroom, right?" Olivia said.
"Of course, 'Liv." Your mother patted Olivia's head with her free hand, "Or maybe you'll get smashed into our toes, and end up washed down the drain when we shower."
"Or he'll fall off of our toes in our shoes, and be stuck under our feet until he's dead." Rachel snickered. "Face it, bug. You're not going to survive long."
"I would bet on that. But that's it for now. No more talking, no more family, no more being human. I hope for your sake you don't run into us again." Your mother said, giving you one last kiss. She then dropped you unceremoniously on to the floor. "Let's give him at least an hour to get used to his new status, hm?"
You laid on the floor dazed, watching your family file out of the room into different parts of the house. What the hell had just happened? How had you gone from human to insect, permanently, in less than half a day? They were absolutely serious about it too. You had better come up with some sort of plan soon, or you were going to end up dead. Or worse.
