Your dad drives across the city, and parks outside of an inconspicuous office building. At first he walks toward the front door, but then he veers off, instead entering the alleyway. There's a single door against a brick wall, leading down into an empty bar. Mark takes a seat, and hangs his head in shame.
"What's got you down, Mark?" the bartender says as he places a glass in front of him. This bartender, Brian Reeves, is a friend of your father from way back when he was a kid. They've known each other for over 30 years, and are still close friends.
"Brian... My son did it. He built one." The bartender dropped a glass and stared at Mark in disbelief. "Regardless of any technicalities, he really is my son after all. I knew I should have never let the family see Freaky Friday. Blech."
Brian chuckled, and swept up the shattered glass after filling Mark's. "So what are you going to do about it? Destroy it?"
Your dad clutched his head in agony and put it flat on the table. "Absolutely. That's what needs to be done. No one has the right to switch bodies like clothes... But..." He raised his head, and took a swig. "I switched with my wife. It was only for a second, and I changed right back, but I can't get that moment out of my head."
"Maybe you can keep the machine. Just put a lock on it and a strict set of rules. Only in the family, or something."
"Stop encouraging this, Brian! The one I built when I was his age was supposed to be okay to use, too. You remember what happened back then. There's people who never got their bodies back. 30 years later, and there's still people out there, who stole their friends lives, and got away with it. This technology is too dangerous to be allowed to exist, under any circumstances!"
"Mark," Brian said, "I'll come with you. We'll take care of this machine together. I've got your back."
Your dad smiled at his friend of 30 years. "Thanks. It only took a split second, but 20 years of suppressed urges have come back. I know it's wrong, but deep down, I want to use the hell out this machine. I appreciate your help."
