He steps over to the weapon and picks it up. He opens the to find it has only five rounds in it. He tucks it into his pocket and gets into the car. It starts up immediately and jason cautiously pulls out of the alley and into the street. He is checking in every direction for the police. It is just two blocks to the municpal parking lot where they might be able to steal a car the police aren't looking for. They arrive safely and Jason pulls in and parks the car.
They exit the car and are moving silently across the parking lot when they hear a loud speaker say "Stop where you are"
Jason is about to pull out the gun and try to defend his mother when a strange man runs across the lot being chased by two burly police officers.
They seem not to concerned with Elizabeth and Jason. They watch the man run into a nearby building still being pursued by the police.
