--and then there, in a puff of whimsical blue smoke, sat the fruits of her creation.
A tiny hillock of sugary mouthwatering goodness, raising to little less than an inch high at its crest, had been conjured just a few of Miffie's tiny footsteps away! It was large, considering pixie standards, and fully dressed as every good cupcake should be. Its cup was perfectly white while the chocolatey cap oozed over the sides seductively. Blue frosting crowned the top as it hovered majestically in place, crackling slightly as the magical energies responsible for its birth began to settle.
Miffie was awestruck at the majesty of its grace, stepping forward to catch her most excellent of creations as it fell gently into her tiny hands.
"I did it!" she beamed, dimples creasing her tiny cheeks as she began to glow slightly. Her wings began to beat rapidly and she performed a quick loop as excitement overtook her, "That wasn't hard at all!"
She settled in the air, wings pattering behind her as she scrutinized her conceived confection. It seemed perfect enough on the outside. Excellent texture, flaky crust, not too much frosting (if there ever was such a thing) and all that business. The cup was unstained and seemed to come off easy enough, leaving the cake perfectly in shape. Miffie's expression changed to one of sly contemplation as a most important question crossed her mind:
"Now how does it taste?" she asked herself aloud as she raised an eyebrow, feeling her mouth grow ever moister with every passing second
True, Miffie had told herself that if she ever wanted her mother's respect she'd have to avoid all the temptations that came with being able to conjure up almost anything one's heart could desire. In all honesty, that plan seemed a lot easier to follow through with before the cupcake was literally right in front of her.
But on the other hand (Miffie was so grateful that there was another hand in this) if she ever wanted to get anywhere in this conjuration magic or with Mother's opinion, she'd have to know just how delicious her first attempt at a magical confectionery had come out, if it was delicious at all. It sure looked delicious. After all, it could have just looked like a cupcake and could really be... oh, a rock or something, right?
