Goblins: Magic users, spells, and artifacts

    by: Yote Author IconMail Icon
While goblins have scant magical talent, their ingenious inventions allow them to make up for this shortfall. The shrewd goblins also have the ability of Pure Sight, allowing them to see through magical trickery and illusions. If attempting to fool a goblin, magical means are rarely the surest option.

Body shoppes/Brawnbrokers/Organlegging
Do a lucrative trade in the purchase and sale of appendages and organs. Need money fast? Sell your redundant limbs. Want a pair of Orc arms? They can do that too. An Elvish face? Costly, but perfectly doable.

Goblin Knife
While appearing as nothing more than a short, dull blade, the characteristic Goblin Knife is both a deceptively formidable weapon and a master craftsman's tool. The blunt blade slices through flesh and bone like butter, leaving a clean, sealed cut. Any body part severed by the blade remains in good health and can be reattached to its owner or to anyone else.
Most Goblin traders own one of these knives for self-defense and to restock their Body Shoppes, often at the same time.

Dehydrated Muscles.
This powder is injected just below the skin. Normally inert, it expands when the owner drinks a large quantity of water, becoming a fully functional set of muscles which lasts for several hours. The quantity inserted makes a difference; some seek only a little extra tone, while others use the powder to become towering pillars of kill-meat.
It must be used with caution, as over several months the muscle will degrade into fat; regular exercise will trim this down as it forms, but more than one wanna-be Adonis or sculpted goddess has found themselves a pot of chub after neglecting to stay active. Sometimes the powder is intentionally used this way with spot injections in the chest or rear.

Golem
Mechanical constructs built to serve their masters. Come in thousands of configurations, from battle golems to servile or pleasure golems. Their construction can range from rudimentary automatons to near-human counterfeits.

Goblin Jumper Cables
Goblin jumper cables allow two souls to jump between bodies. Rare and require considerable energy to power.

Water cloak
Rare items of clothing magically woven from water. These liquid cloaks protect the amphibious Goblin merchants in dryer climates. Additionally, when pulled around the body, the refractive effect of the water produces an imperfect invisibility, camouflaging the wearer with the surroundings.

Mental floss
A length of psychotropic seaweed twisted into a thin thread. Goblins threads this plant between the ears of slaves - the seaweed grows into the brain, making the afflicted compliant and erasing memories and thoughts.

The Philosophers' Stones
In actually the physical remains of the three greatest Gold Order wizards ever to have lived, the three philosophers' stones are powerful relics. Once the items of office of the Gold Order Magus, before enterprising goblins stole them. The stones can transmute base metals into pure gold perfectly and permanently, and the transformation is undetectable from the real thing, even by Gold wizards.
As such, the goblin cabal that now owns them has the human economy by the balls. It is imperative to both the Kingdom and the Gold Order that they be returned.
A philosophers' stone in the hands of a Gold Order wizard will augment their power five-fold.
