This one time of the month was always the hardest for Fluttershy. Taking care of the animals around Ponyville required her to take care of all of them, including the carnivores. With some of them, like cats and dogs she managed to bypass the guilt by buying the meat from a store for pet accessories but these animals required her to feed them living food, the snakes. It was the one day where none of her little friends would come even near her out of fear of ending as snake food but they all forgave Fluttershy knowing that she had no choice.
However this time it would be even worse for she had to take care of a new snake, an anaconda. This large snake had arrived last week and would require something bigger than a mouse or a squirrel. Fluttershy whimpered as she thought which animal to feed to the large snake. She never bonded too much with the smaller animals, knowing they may end up as snake food but the deers and dogs she would have to feed to the snake?
No matter how hard she thought she couldn't think of any animal of appropriate size she could feed to the snake without the guilt becoming too much for her. A strange thought passed her mind, what if she fed herself or other ponies to the snake? She would have no problem sacrificing herself for the sake of an animal friend and she never bonded too much with other ponies outside of her friend group. Aren't ponies also animals, albeit more intelligent?
