Chapter #4

Strangely Familiar

Every so often in life a person will come across something that just makes them freeze in place, unable to react to the world around them or express any sort of coherent thought. Sixteen short years into your life and you had already come across something completely baffled you that you could only resort to spewing out a sentence using improper English.

"...Whaaaaaaat the freak...?"

In your hands was a suit which you found hiding in seclusion between all the other weird elastic suits you had come across. But it wasn't just any sort of suit like all the others, which had been depicting a variety of different people. The face of this one, though flattened and stretched, was the exact same face of your mother. It wasn't just a trick of the light or your imagination running wild either, it was almost as if someone had gone out of their way to make a replica of her face. Only a few minor things were out of place, like the space between the eyes and a lack of dimples.

Still enchanted by your find, you unknowingly removed it from the rack and took it off its hanger. Sure enough, it was almost precisely her height of five foot one. The suit even sagged and suggested room for space in particular areas of her body, such as her thighs and chest. Heck, even the hair attached to the suit was a reddish color, albeit more darker and browner like someone had dyed it.

"Whaaaaat?" you repeated again, only to blush in realization that several women that had been staring at you were now whispering in each other's ear and giggling.

Instead of putting it away, however, you stuck it behind your back and quickly put as much distance between the rack and you as possible. This led you right into the last person you wanted to see.

"Oh, sorry about that John, honey. Did you find something you wanted?"

You had bumped square into your mom's rump as she turned around with a handful of weird looking antiques. Thankfully, this also meant she wasn't really looking at you as she was too busy trying to keep what she had from dropping.

"Uh...Yeah...Sorta."

"Well, good then! You're having some fun now, right? How much is this thing you want?"

"Only a dollar...I think..."

"Wow, what a find! Here, take it out of my pocketbook..."

Before you could even think about what happened next, you had paid for the suit, driven home, and were staring at the suit as lay in your hands. Not a single thought had been given on what in the world you were going to do with this thing now that you had it. Something had just compelled you to buy it, it was like you were looking at some sort of strange modern art piece. All you could do was stare at it.

You began to ponder not only where this suit came from but what the rack meant by magical and as you sat on your bed thinking...

You have the following choices:

1. You were compelled to wear it

2. Jenny comes over

3. Your mom enters and discovers the suit
