Chapter #5

You manage a win

    by: Pseudonym Author IconMail Icon
"It's hopeless!" laughs Conner "And if I'm not mistaken, your Creator has another special ability, preventing you from special summoning it from the graveyard! So there's absolutely no way you'll ever be able to get him back. Your show was great while it lasted, Zack, but now it's all over. Just like it's all over between you and Rebekah."

Why does he keep going on about that?

"I won't be needing to summon my Creator for the rest of the duel. Just watch. It's my move, Conner" you say confidently "And I've drawn my Pot of Greed! This allows me to draw two cards from my deck!"
Conner scoffs. "Yeah, whatever. Get it over with. You seem to be good at that."
"I'm not going to be distracted that easily, Conner. I have complete faith in my deck! Just you watch. I summon my Herald of Creation! With the help of my Luminous Spark field spell card, my Herald of Creation has 2300 awesome attack points!"
"It's still nothing compared to the power of my Cyber Saurus! Cyber Saurus has over a thousand attack points more than your measly Herald of Creation."

"As may be, but as you might have guessed, my Herald has a special ability. By discarding one card from my hand, I can add any one level 7 or higher monster from my graveyard to my hand. Which means my Soul of Purity and Light is back in my hand!"
"What? Why aren't you bringing back your Creator?"
"I told you, I won't be needing it to win. But it gets worse. The card I just discarded to bring my Soul of Purity and Light back to my hand was The Fabled Catsith! When The Fabled Catsith is discarded from my hand to the graveyard, it can destroy any monster on the field! And I think you know which one I'm going to pick!"

"Oh no!" is all Conner can say as his Cyber Saurus is demolished, along with the United We Stand that is attached to it.
"Now I remove The Fabled Catsith and one of my Creators in my graveyard from play" you announce "To summon the Soul of Purity and Light to the field!"
Once again the angelic figure came down with all its 2500 attack points, giving a spectacular light show to the crowds below.
"This is not good!" Conner remarks.
"Now watch this, Conner! Go, Soul of Purity and Light! Destroy his weaker Cyber Saurus and deal 700 points to damage to his life points! And Herald of Creation! Deal 2300 points of damage to his life points directly, for a grand total of 3000 points of damage!"

"No!" cries out Conner as his life points drop to 5000.
"See, I told you I'd turn things around in my move. Now look who's standing defenseless before my monsters, eh? And you've got nothing more in your hand either!"
"That's exactly what my Heart of the Underdog magic cards are for!"
"Well go on then, Conner! Draw your card, and let's see what it is!"

Reluctantly, Conner turns over his card. "Well, would you look at that. It's the same card that you drew - Pot of Greed. Now I can draw another two cards from my deck."
"That's not a problem. Since it's outside of your draw phase, your Heart of the Underdog cards won't activate even if you draw a normal monster. So go ahead! Draw your cards!"
"That doesn't matter to me!" says Conner full of annoyance as he draws his two cards "I set one card face down and end my turn."

"Alright then" you say "It's my turn! I draw! And look what we have here!"
"What! What is it!?"
"It's another one of my favorite magic cards - Change of Heart! This allows me to take control of your monster until the end of your turn!"

A sudden silence fills the crowd. Conner seems to be just barely standing. "This can't be!" he exclaims "This can't be! It simply can't be happening! No!"
"I flip your monster face up - Mashmallon? Interesting. That would have hurt my life points quite a bit if I'd attacked it."
"You're cheating! You have to be cheating!"
"Nope" you flash a smile "I'm just better than you. Go, Soul of Purity and Light! Deal 2500 points of damage directly to his life points!"
"ARGH!" screams Conner as his life points halve.
"Now it's your turn, Herald of Creation! Attack!"
Once again Conner's anguished screams fill the air.
"And now for the grand finale - Conner's marshmallon! Attack Conner directly and wipe out his remaining life points!"
"NO!" squeals Conner as he falls to his knees, and his life points drop to zero.

Once again, the crowds below have taken to chanting your name over and over again. "Zack! Zack! Zack!" they say.

"No! This isn't right! I was meant to win!" wailed Conner.
"Well, I'm sorry, but you didn't. So... um... I think I get your strongest card and locator card, now, right?"
"NO WAY!" screams Conner, as he throws his entire duel disk, with the locator card and his deck in it, into the airplane engine.
"What are you doing?!"
"What does it look like I'm doing, idiot? I'd rather see my cards destroyed than let any of them get into your hands!"

"Hey!" says an official, running over "That's against the official rules!"
"So what?" asks Conner "You going to have me arrested for destroying my own property? You should know I don't have any respect for my cards or this game!"
"No" replies the official "We'll have you arrested for vandalizing that aircraft engine. That's KaibaCorp property."

As the official climbs on to the wing, however, Conner jumps off and runs away down the tarmac. "Stop him!" yells the official.
