Evan thought for a moment. “You’re right Mom,” he said after a moment. “Thinking about it, you’re not even in uniform,” he added. Miranda nodded slowly and checked her watch.
“We’ve got 15 minutes before we have to go. I’ll go change, and you’d better put something a bit smarter on,” she grinned. “I’m actually a little bit excited about this!” she added as she bounded towards the stairs. She hurried to her room and shut the door behind her. Looking through her wardrobe, she found the girls’ version of Evan’s school uniform hanging there in her size. She grinned and quickly stripped off what she was wearing, and began to pull the new garments on.
First came the light blue shirt and navy striped tie, quickly followed by a green and blue tartan skirt. She found a pair of white socks and black Mary Janes with a bit of a heel. Once they were on, she quickly pulled on the royal blue jumper and turned to look at herself in the mirror.
“Goodness,” she thought to herself. “I don’t look half bad.”
Meanwhile, Evan was redressing himself in a smart white shirt and a pair of beige chinos. He then put on a pair of brown slip-on shoes and a sports jacket.
“This looks pretty teacher-y,” he muttered to himself as he picked up a briefcase he found by his desk.
“EVAN!” His mom called from the hallway. “It’s time to go!” She sounded really excited and, as he left his room, he found her by the front door, his backpack over her shoulder, car keys in hand.
“Guess I’m still the driver,” she smiled. “Now, get your butt into that car Mr. Wilson,” she beamed. Evan smiled at this and followed her out to the car. Before long, they were pulling into the school car park.
“I wonder if anyone will notice,” Miranda muttered.
“They shouldn’t. We’ve got the knowledge we need to get through the day,” Evan replied. “I’m just glad you teach at my school. Let’s see how the morning goes and we’ll meet up at lunch. Sound good?” he added.
Miranda nodded excitedly and was about to leave the car when she turned and said, “Wait, I’ve thought of one more thing we need to swap!”
