The two started walking down the street while Anna thought of something.
"I got it!" Anna said. "let's swap lives!"
Evan thought for a second and said, "Y'know what, sure let's do it!"
Evan concentrated for a moment, holding his breath, and he felt something change but he can't pinpoint it exactly. He felt a little winded but that was probably because he was holding his breath.
Anna suddenly took him out of his thoughts, "Did you do it yet?" Only a minute had passed so Anna didn't think he was lying. "Yeah, I did but I don't feel any different" Evan responded. "Yeah me either. Maybe try switching bodies," Anna answered.
Evan concentrated, even shutting his eyes. He felt different and he was breathing heavily, sweating some even. He opened his eyes and saw Evan, no, himself standing there in front of him!
Anna exclaimed, "Oh my gosh! Anna, I mean Evan, It worked!"
"Yeah it did!" Evan replied, his voice a little shaky.
"So, how about we switch back later on this week? Whenever we run into each other?" Anna asked.
"Sure, that sounds good," he said.
"Hey are you feeling alright? You're all out of breath," Anna said.
"I feel really weak. I think doing swaps takes a lot of energy," Evan answered.
"Why don't you go home and get some rest?" Anna suggested.
"Yeah, you're right. I'll see you later," Evan said, and the two walked off in different directions.
Evan heard, "Anna!!"
He jolted into alertness and instantly responded, "Coming Mom!" As he ran home he thought that it was odd that he responded instantly when called for. After all, he was used to the name Evan. Maybe the swapping did something to his brain, but that didn't matter right now.
He told Ms. Gerard, who was now his mom, that he thought that getting fresh air would make him feel better, which it did, but he started feeling bad again so he started walking home to get some rest. His mom said that she would start making dinner in a few hours and would wake him up if he went to sleep.
Evan went to use the bathroom and, as he sat on the toilet, he felt odd. He then had an 'oh yeah' moment-- he used to have a penis!
As Evan walked into his room he felt alienated, but also right at home. He laid in his bed only to realize it wasn't his bed! The swap must've done more than just switch bodies! He kept thinking more and more that he was Anna and always had been! He had all of Anna's memories, but his were starting to become much harder to remember. They weren't disappearing, they were just harder to think of. His first thoughts if someone asked his name would be Anna, but a few seconds later he would remember the name Evan.
Whatever it was, he would deal with it when he woke up.
When Evan woke up he felt normal again, Anna's memories weren't his first thought anymore. He must've recovered from using so much energy. He felt the urge to pee so he went to the bathroom. He recalled doing it once, but this time was extremely unnatural. He felt odd taking off Anna's clothes, but after realizing it was his body now he felt more comfortable.
He then ate dinner and went to sleep.
