Melis decided the stairs were her best bet for safety was the stairs, because if she was fast enough she could make it to safety in time was the theory. The reality turned out to be very different than her theory as the rats quickly outpaced her movements and surrounded her and began to edge closer to her.
With a quick prayer the young priestess summoned forth a a spiritual mace made of holy energy and launched herself at a rat striking a deadly blow on the skull ending it’s life instantly but she only had a moment to plan her next action as the rats launched a counter attack against her. She felt the hot breath of a rat as her training kicked in sending her weapon violently crashing in the neck of the beast snapping it in several place. Melis wanted a few moments to collect herself but they weren’t to be had as one of the final three creatures launched into the air slamming her body to the floor knocking her head against the causing her to lose the concentration on maintaining her spiritual weapon.
Fear began to enter her mind as the danger grew as she watched her weapon fade from reality. She pressed both of her legs against the rodent and kicked as hard as she could sending it sprawling backwards into its’ companions. Hope swelled in her that she might be able to call forth lightning to end the lives of the remaining rats.
The rodents were scrambling to their feet faster than the priestess would have liked, but she paid no attention as the spell she was summoning required complete focus. Evan as the incisors of a rat dug into her thigh her concentration held. The air crackled as lightning slid through the air striking home against the rats ending their lives.
Melis wanted to collapse in exhaustion but many dangers lurked in this tower and certainly more now that she was tiny. She eyed the small of wound on her leg and wondered if she should use a minor or major healing spell on it. Rodents were know for carrying diseases much less what one from a wizard’s tower could be carrying, but the combat had exhausted a lot of her magic and at her size she couldn’t use any of her items to compensate for the loss of magic and strength.
