She decided it was best to do strategic strikes to end the threat because she didn’t want to reveal herself to any enemy who might be watching and changing back would likely take too long. Seras grabbed some of her throwing daggers and a crossbow and went to see the approaching threat to the wagon train.
The group of bandits attack from both sides but the attack was disorganized as if some of the riders were drunk. Seras let loose a deadly bolt from her crossbow toppling one of the scarier and more sober looking riders to the ground. She hoped by picking off a few of the leaders or tougher riders the others would be scared and run. She wished she had her trusty short swords if the attackers managed to break the formation and get close but a lot of people recognized her distinctive blades.
A couple more of the bolts struck home with deadly results but it appeared the fighting was going to get a lot closer than she wanted. She silently cursed the guards for being terrible shots and the drunken bandits for being too stupid to realize their numbers were quickly dropping. The throwing daggers were much faster to throw but not as easy to pierce armor with. Seras would have to take careful aim for unprotected spots but luckily most of these fools had nod taken time to put on proper armor.
Sliding under the cover of her wagon she started to take some shots at the bandits entering the wagon area making sure to hit anyone approaching her wagon. Helping the guards was her second priority as they could actually fight, well at least better than the other people in the wagon train. Screams from a woman attracted her attention and she saw a woman being dragged away by on of the criminals she struck the man with a dagger to the back of the neck ending any bad plans he might have had.
Things were looking too close to call even with her assistance, and she was running out of daggers. Seras could try and hide out in the hopes even if the remaining bandits won their numbers wouldn’t be enough to take much with them. She could press her attack and hope the tide would turn in her favor. Gambling wasn’t some thing she liked to do unless she controlled the out com. It would look better if she hid and the guards won but if she didn’t do something soon there wouldn’t be many guards left and there was still a lot of road to travel. There was certainly a temptation to grab her most important gear and take off on one of her horses.
A bandit had gotten the edge on one of the guards and was about to slay him but Seras’s dagger struck home first as she continued to wonder what her next course of action should be and with only five daggers left she would have to make the decision quickly.
