He had brought the climbing equipment, he might as well use it. Sir Garrett removed his armor and weapons save a dagger and set about climbing the mountain. He had training in climbing but it had been many years since he felt truly proficient in the skill but the animal he was hunting respected the effort that climbing took or the Griffin might just decide it was hungry and eat him.
His dagger and skills would make him a tough prey for the creatures but he hoped it wouldn’t come to that. Sweat poured down his face as he climbed the mountain pulling his heavy frame up the mountain. Every few minutes he stopped and checked the sky for any Griffins looking for easy prey or a master who would ride them to complete a noble quest. He didn’t know how an animal who would be his bonded mount would look but he certainly hoped they would recognize each other.
The glare from something bright flashed his eyes and he realized it was a griffin, a silver one. The creature looked like it had been carved from the medal and he was certain this was the one he was looking for the question plaguing his mind was how would he reach it. Getting to a stable ledge he whistled the Griffin hoping that it would come to him but the animal seemed to take no note of the noise he was making. All he felt he could do was to continue climbing and hope it came down for a closer look.
A great chill started to shake his body as he got closer to the peak of the mountain as he followed the animal to where it had vanished over the top of the plateau. He took a look around as his body started to relax from his efforts.
