This choice: It's been a long ride. Settle in first • Go Back... As much as the two ponies wanted to wander around and see everything, Nyx walked down the street said, "Come on, Scootaloo, let's get to our hotel so I can put these bags down." She then glanced over her shoulder and had to turn back around when she saw her friend get drawn toward a crowd gathered in front of the Seven-Leaf, one of the larger casinos on the strip. There, standing on a platform that was backlit by the casino's trademark sign of a seven-leaf clover, was an earth pony in a track suit. He was sitting atop a motorscooter at the top of an extremely high ramp, and revved the vehicle's engine for the crowd.
With a soft sigh, Nyx hurried over and grabbed Scootaloo's tail in her mouth before she could get lost in the crowd. Her friend struggled, whining, "Aww, come on Nyx, that's Flip Cartwheel up there! He's one of the best stuntponies alive! This is gonna be awesome!"
Nyx let go of Scootaloo's tail and chuckled a little, shaking her head. "Seriously, Scootaloo, you'll get plenty of chances to see this sort of thing. Heck, you'll get plenty of chances to do this sort of thing. Come on, I want to find our hotel while I still have time to get some sleep, and neither of us should be going off on our own right now."
Scootaloo groaned, but reluctantly turned around to go with her friend. "Fine, but you owe me, Nyx."
"I promise, if I don't make it up to you somehow, you can yank me away if I meet one of my idols," the alicorn replied with a soft laugh, turning around and immediately running into another pony.
Taken by surprise, Nyx stumbled and fell to the ground, as did the luggage she'd been keeping aloft with her magic, causing the bags to spill open.
Nyx shook her head and started to pick herself up before offering a hoof to the pony she'd knocked down. He was an older, flinty grey unicorn wearing an extremely expensive suit and fedora on the ground beside him. As she helped him to his hooves, Nyx suddenly gasped as recognition hit her.
"Y-y-you're... Suave Crooner," she stammered, her jaw hanging open.
Reaching out with his magic once he was upright, the unicorn picked up his fedora and put it back on his head. "The one and only." He then turned his head up to get a good look at Nyx, giving her a smile that made the mare's knees wobble. "But a tall, dark and gorgeous drink of water like you can call me whatever she wants."
"Swa-who? Nyx, who's this geezer?" Scootaloo had walked up and asked the question with a raised eyebrow, causing Nyx's face to feel like it had just caught on fire as she slapped a hoof over the pegasus's mouth.
Whispering into her friend's ear, Nyx hissed, "That's Suave Crooner! The Chairman! One of the greatest singers of all time!"
Scootaloo blinked in confusion a few times, but then asked, "Wait, is he the guy from those old records you borrowed from the mayor?" She started snickering. "Sweet Celestia, you're blushing! Oh, wow, wait'll the others hear you're in love with a fossil..."
"He's not that old! I-I mean, that's not it! I just admire his music!"
"You know," Suave Crooner said, interrupting their whispered conversation, "I'm doing a set in the Seven-Leaf, and I always perform better with a couple of lovely ladies in the front row, if you'd like to accompany me."
Before Nyx could say anything, Scootaloo got a wicked grin on her face and replied... indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
