communicate with her freely

"That way you can communicate with her freely and visit whenever you want. It's the only logical solution," she added as you just stared at Sarah ... Jessica ... Sarah in Jessica's body.

You knew she was right, but you felt abandoned none the less. For the next couple of weeks, you'd have to deal with the funeral and the grieving relatives and friends. Picturing your wife's dead body made you shudder. At least you could visit her in her new body often and ...

"Of course, we couldn't just start a relationship right away," Deborah offered interrupting your thoughts. "It would look inappropriate like we were having an affair or something already. I guess the best way to explain it is that we met in the hospital and ..."

"How long?" you blurted turning to her catching her completely by surprise. "How long before we, ... I can ... be with ..."

Suddenly you broke down in tears. You hadn't ever cried this way for years, but the thought that Sarah was actually dead kept playing in your mind and that you would be alone - so alone. Deborah came over and tried to comfort you, feeling very uncomfortable herself you being a stranger and all until just a few minutes ago.

"I don't know if I can handle this, " you sobbed after a couple minutes when you gained some control. "I ... I need to be able to see, ... I mean talk to her, know she's ...she's ... she's really still here."

"Of course. Of course, you will. You can always talk, at least at certain times - over the phone mostly. She will have school and can't be up late, and ..."

"School? How can she go to school? She doesn't know any of Jessica's friends or classes or ... or ..."

"Yes, she will have to learn," Deborah said as she started to ponder how they could handle that. Obviously, Sarah could do her courses but doesn't know teachers or what actually was being studied. "Perhaps, ... yes. We will say the accident gave her amnesia of all that ... friends and other people and the like."

Pulling out your handkerchief to dry your eyes and blow your nose, you started to calm down. It was all logical and made sense. It would take some time, but it might all just work out. Once Sarah finished Jessica's schooling, the two of you could move somewhere and live together again.

Looking at Deborah, you smiled. "Thank you. Thank you so much," you said and gave her a very sincere hug.
