This choice: "I'll try and climb her, get her attention, and uh, you three stay here." • Go Back...Chapter #5Leap of Faith by: Frost Although climbing the thrashing giant definitely was not the brightest decision at the moment, the sudden burst of stress, panic, and Wendy's preexisting anxiety severely clouded the shrunken sixteen year old's judgment. "I guess there's no other way," she hastily said, looking up at the large expanse that was her older sister. Out of all of the siblings, Wendy was probably the most scared, and the least mentally prepared for this sort of adventure.
"Are you sure, sis? That doesn't seem that safe." Carla said, bring the surprise voice of reason.
"Now's not the time to question me right now!" Wendy panicked, her brain fried enough to be completely redundant. "Just get the twins on the counter, okay!?"
"Okay," Carla simply answered, grabbing hold of both Mary and Jamie's hands in her own and quickly ushering them away from the epicenter of the quakes.
Wendy's going to be okay, right?!" Mary asked after a few terror filled seconds of running.
"Of course she will." Carla reassured, "didn't you see how she saved Jamie's butt? She practically has enough adrenaline to be Wonder Woman." Carla kept going, appealing to the twins' love of super heroes and comic books.
"Just be safe!" Wendy screamed, speaking more to herself than her younger siblings. She immediately scolded herself for volunteering to do something so stupid. "It's simple," she said through an anxiety ridden chuckle, "Just grab onto her clothes and climb." She let put another nervous chuckle, sizing up the details of her plan.
The tiny ginger eyed her titanic sister's navy blue soccer shorts which had Catherine's old high school's name and logo printed on the thigh. She quickly took note of the white string used to tighten shorts. She was at least thankful for it being thick enough to grab onto. "Okay," she huffed, bobbing back and forth as if she were gaining momentum to jump. "Just jump and hold on. Simple, easy, safe- oh who am I kidding? I'm gonna die..." Wendy took a deep breath and bolted towards Catherine's midsection, praying to whatever entities determined her fate. She sprinted as fast as she could, gaining more and more speed as she approached the ledge.
