Assessing the Situation

Catherine's eyes widened when she heard Wendy's yelling. She frantically leaped up and looked where she'd been sitting, praying she hadn't squashed her tiny siblings. Luckily, she spotted them just a few inches away. "Oh, thank God!" She sighed with relief as she lowered her hand down to the bed. Carla and the twins clambered onto her palm, reunited with Wendy. Catherine was amazed at their weightlessness as she raised them to her eyes. "What the fu- heck happened to you guys?" She censored herself for the sake of the twins, a habit that had become second nature. She was met with a flurry of incomprehensible squeaks. "Oh right," she said, moving them to her ear.

Wendy relayed the events of the last few minutes into Catherine's giant ear. The larger girl winced when Wendy told her about the near crushing of Jamie. They were moved back in front of the face which dwarfed them. From her spot on the cushiony, pink palm Wendy could see every detail in Catherine's face, noting very few imperfections in her tan skin.

"So...you all just woke up tiny on the bed. Weird." Catherine gently prodded them with her index finger, trying to believe this was really happening.

"I wonder how big you guys are."

She set them on Jamie's desk by the wall. She grabbed Mary, who giggled as she was lifted, and held her against a nearby ruler. "A little under a fourth of an inch!" Catherine set her silliest sibling down. She thought about that as she looked at tiny group. At that size, they were a little under an inch tall combined. She sighed as she scooped them up. "Well, I don't know what to do about this." She thought about finding a way to grow them back but she had no idea where to start. She shook those troubling thoughts from her mind. To forget that she decided it would be best to just have breakfast. She carried them downstairs and into the kitchen.

She pondered what they should have before choosing...
