This choice: You give it to the poor pregnant woman. • Go Back...
Chapter #4
The power of a mother
by: Unknown
You decide to give it to Jenny Dantz. After all, you figure, if it works in her, you could cook up another batch to help out the nerd.
Crossing the street, you ring her doorbell.
A faint whirring sound comes from inside, and then Jenny answers the door. She is wheelchair-bound and in the eighth month of her pregnancy.
"Hi, Jenny," you say.
"Oh, hi, John!"
"Can I come in? I have something important I want to discuss with you."
"Oh, sure! By the way, thanks for chipping in to help me get this chair. I know you're in college and probably don't have much money..."
"You deserved it, Jenny. Your kids deserved it. And that's why I'm here."
"So, what is this about, then?"
You produce the container. "This. This contains a formula that will make the drinker omnipotent. I think you need it."
"That will make whoever drinks it omnipotent? Why didn't you just drink it as soon as you figured that out?"
"Well..." you begin uneasily. "Well... because I think you deserve it more than I do, and..."
"And?"
"And I'm not quite sure if it'll work."
"And if it doesn't work?"
"I don't know."
"So you're asking me to risk my life and my kids' life on an unproven formula, on the chance that I'll become all-powerful?"
"Isn't the risk worth it? Look, if it doesn't work, I'll figure out what I did wrong, take it myself and fix you. Even if you or any of your kids die."
"Okay." Jenny takes the proffered container and drains it.
