Chapter #5

Blueprints of the future.

"Hey Cadence, Can I talk to you and R.L.?" Lupa asks straight away without waiting for a 'hello' back, or an 'Uhhh' in Cadence's circumstance. She then held up a copy of the new book and Cadence understood then went to fetch R.L.
Nothing bad would happen along as she was there.

You're sitting on the kitchen table when Cadence comes through with a worried look on her face. Your stomach immediately drops as though you've just hit the descent on a roller coaster and for good reason. There's only two instances that immediately spring to mind when Cadence makes that expression; When there's 'Anti Dead' supporters around or when you're in danger, which probably means Lupa or Nefernina are here to give you a cardio workout.

"Our Landlady is at the door I presume?" you ask with an expectant expression and slowly increasing heart rate.

Cadence starts switching between gesturing to her teeth and stomach. "Lupa." you sigh. Cadence nods, then lays her hand out. "Let's just get this over with" you say as you climb on and settle your self in her great blue palm.

As she walks through you notice her fingers are arched and look as though they're about to just close over you. You have to admire how protective Cadence gets around you. Why can't Lupa just be like her?

You both arrive at the door and Lupa is still there waiting, you make eye contact with her and before you can look away she blurts out "Hey R.L.". This instantly struck you the wrong way as she usually refers to you as 'snack' or 'breakfast', you know those totally normal terms of endearment.

"So what's it going to be today? you gonna wrestle Cadence to get me? Or are you trying to pull a quick one? Why do you have that?" you point to the book. "Woah! Slow down! I just wanted to come and say thank you. It's so cool you used me as the main character! Cadence gave you credit in the acknowledgments. I never thought you'd do anything like that for me".

"I would nev!- wait..." - "You gave me a writing credit?" you say surprised turning to Cadence for a moment. She looks down at you with a faint smile and gently brushes the side of your face with her tremendous index finger and mumbles something unintelligible that sounded vaguely like 'Course I did'.

Your sharply drawn back to Lupa when she starts to speak again. "I'm so glad you actually like me enough to do that! I've been trying to get your attention ever since you moved in!".

Enough of this nonsense you think. You have no time for her games anymore. "I will NEVER like you Lupa! You're ferocious and self centred! And Trust me you definitely have my undivided attention, considering if I take it away from you whenever you're close by, I'll probably end up in that fat gut of yours!". Almost as if in defence, Lupa's left paw instinctively went to rest upon her titanic belly and she looked at you in the same way she did when Cadence first saved you from her. It takes a moment for her to respond.

"We've had a few close calls but I thought we were just playing?" she eventually answered. "PLAYING!?" You bark at her. "I've never known someone so cruel, greedy and gluttonous! I mean just look at the size of yo-" you stop when she suddenly runs off, appearing to be crying before she dodges out of sight.

You turn to Cadence in a manner of confusion and depleting exasperation. "What just happened?" you say scratching the back of your head. Cadence looked at where Lupa had run off before tilting her head back down at you and proceeded to groan and mumble broken sentences. You manage to catch the drift of what she's saying. She thinks you should go and talk to Lupa alone and try to patch things up. "Yeah that'll be the day, 'Me wandering around Lupa's apartment alone with no back up', This could just be another scheme to eat me!".

She grunts something back quickly that was clearly meant to mean 'And if not?'.

"Then...then..." you stutter trying to think of some devious way she is trying to deceive you when it, all of a sudden, hits you like lightning. "Then I just hurt someone really badly that only wanted to be my friend and didn't know how to go about it".

Cadence nods her head in the direction of Lupa's apartment in a 'Do you want to go?' fashion.

If there was ever a time to end all the hassle that you have with Lupa, it was now. But Cadence really outdone herself in those last ten minutes. She really deserves a treat.

You have the following choices:

1. Go to Lupa's Apartment.

*Noteb*
2. Offer Cadence a treat.

*Noteb* indicates the next chapter needs to be written.
