Jasmine was just logging off of another long night of gaming once again wishing she could come out into the open with whom she was online. She loved every thing that was “geek.” From gaming to comics, from an amine too magna and everything else in between she loved all of it. She still remembered how it first started. She had to get a book to read for school when she saw a misplaced comic of Sailor Moon. Seeing a female hero on the cover caught her attention and she picked it up expecting not to like it. Seeing her fight queen Baryl had her hooked and she went looking for the first book to read. That one book quickly became two, which quickly became four, and before she knew it the store was closing she had been reading for about six hours, read the first 25 books of the series, and she was hooked. As she walked home, she wondered whether other magna books like that one was good. She turned on the internet and as the say the rest was history.
She was lucky her parents were both well off and very lax in there parenting style. She had a good size allowance which allowed her to indulge in her new hobby. She knew she couldn’t let her friends know she was doing something so uncool, so she asked her parents if she could use /have the attic. With their permission and a lot of years collecting she turned it into a nerds paradise. From the posters all along the walls, to the lines of games ranging from the original Atari to the newest systems today, biggest hits and hidden gems, to all the stacks of magna and anime. She had piles and binders of gaming cards that got used even while she kept her name and identity secret. She looked in the middle of her posters and couldn’t help but smile. Hanging up there was a mask and wig. She remembered the first time she wore it. She was just getting into Yu Gi Oh had brought dozens of decks online to build had been trying to think of a way to try them out without anyone knowing who she was when she saw the mask hanging in a store window. It was a jet black that covered her whole face but left her mouth and chin reveled. She got a black wig and added a little make up to put a fake scar that went from her chin across her cheek and disappeared under the mask. She had created The Gamer. It was ruff going at first but after a week of dominated the local game halls she started to build a reputation. As her reputation grew, she expanded on her created character, making a whole costume and personality for her. Then with the rise of social media her created personality took off. She was now famous online. She even saw on some sites that listed what true gamer her online name was listed as “has faced at something at least once.” She was both shocked and flattered all at once. Whenever she went online now rather, it is chatting or gaming she was swamped with challenges, people asking her opinion on things and just talking to her about things.
Jasmine had wished that she could come out of the closest about her gaming, but she wasn’t ready to face her friends about it yet. She had left her attic lair and was going to her “room”. She padlocked the attic to make sure no one found out her secret, when she heard something outside. She looked outside the window to see if she could see what it was. All she saw was empty night and what looked like something in her mailbox. Being a curious person, she walked outside to see what it was. When she found the Dictaphone and the note, her first thought was about the many online stories about things like this changing reality. While she doubted, this little thing could do that it was worth trying. “I am in my room right now.” Jasmine then heard a parking static sound before she was suddenly in her room. Jasmine eyes went wide and her mind quickly latched onto an idea of what to do with this.
