This choice: In her haste, Lucy messes up and makes herself forget the Dictaphone powers. • Go Back...Chapter #4In her haste, Lucy messes up ... by: LeFrenchFox She was supposed to be sleeping, but how could Lucy do so knowing she had ultimate power in her hands out of nowhere. 2 A.M or not, excitement over the top would prevent her from slumber even if she wanted to think about all that with a clear head.
"Angie. I've to tell her! This is just so crazy!", Lucy said to herself, stopping holding the record button and leaving the dictaphone altogether on her bed while she rushed for her phone she had let on her desk at one side of her bedroom.
The goth teen immediately thought of her one (and mostly only true one) friend: Her short and nerdy shy bestfriend Angie Marsh. Lucy knew it was abusive to call her, or anyone, so late in the night (or so early in the morning, actually), but she couldn't wait for her friend to wake up. It's too huge! Her little good friend will forgive her... as she always do anyway. Angie Marsh was that kind of person, too good for anyone.
Quickly she dialed Angie's number... and waited...
"Lucy?!...Are you out of your mind? It's 2 A.M! What's going on?!", a feeble and sleepy voice answered.
"Angie!", the pale black-haired girl said, in a more energetic tone, "Listen to me, girl!", she continued really fast, clear excitement in her voice, "I've found something unbelievable. A device that can make everything you say come true!"
"I... I'm listening Lucy. But, are you... okay?... What the hell are you talking about?"
Said, confused, the small timid brunette on the other side of the call, worrying as much about her friend sudden nonsense as about being woken up at 2 freaking A.M and not getting enough sleep for school tomorrow or maybe even missing classes from being too tired in consequence and missing her waking up!! Still, the confused Angie listened to her friend, because that's what a good bestfriend do!
And she wasn't actually the only one listening.
As, not paying attention, on Lucy's bed, the dictaphone record button was still pushed down...
In her haste, the goth teen didn't realized that releasing the record button from her finger wouldn't be enough to stop it from running, as the button was remaining on its pressed ON position, from Lucy not having pressed the "stop" button or not having pushed down further the pressed button to trigger its released up,
"It's a magical device, Angie. Listen... OK, I don't know what this thing actually is and I have no fucking idea how it even works or what it actually does, but I swear I'm not joking, I'm not high and I'm not messing with you! This thing is real!", Lucy was nearly shouting in excitment, not being careful she could wake up late at night someone in the other bedroom behind her wall.
"This is so crazy Angie! This dictaphone-thing can make all our dreams, all the crazy millions idea we ever wished for Reality!", Lucy kept going, "You can be sure I might just let this thing in my bedroom running and recording whatever comes up in my mind for a looong time! Haha!" she laughed in euphoria.
"Please, Lucy, don't troll me... It's not cool... We have school tomorrow!"
Unfortunately for the unaware and innocent Angie, school was the least of the 2 teenager girls' problems right now. As her goth friend Lucy could be on the verge to make more accidental record.
* * *
Choice #1: Conversation stops quickly, Angie, too concerned about getting too tired for school tomorrow, having none of it. And so Lucy go back to sleep while the dictaphone, she doomed herself to not understand or know its power, is left unchecked, in a corner of her bedroom, recording whatever it hears... Like talk to come of people in her bedroom, vocal words of TV, radio or internet... or even the random words of a goth girl talking in her sleeps and dreams...
Choice #2: Same as choice 1, but with a slight twist as Lucy says to her bestfriend on the phone : "I know you'll believe me when I say I've really have a Reality changing device right here in my bedroom!", with the consequence of the shy nerdy Angie, not knowing exactly why, but being convinced her friend just told her the exact truth, however how crazy this sounds.
Choice #3: Conversation stops quickly. Lucy goes back to sleep, but at least she stop the dictaphone, that she doesn't know anymore what it does, from recording (even if it was by accident)
Choice #4: Angie not believing her, Lucy starts to detail to her on the phone crazy things they could record on the device... and actually make it real just as she says it.
Choice #5: More options indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
