Mike was walking home from school playing on his DS. He was a pudgy little charismatic roly poly little 13 year old. He was happily walking along whistling when he saw a white haired old lady crossing the street, her dog(?) fighting with her as he stubbornly refused to move form his place in the street. Mike saw a truck barreling down on them and had moments to react. He ran out into the street and grabbed the dog(?) and raced to the curb while the old lady made it safely to the curb alongside him. “Are you okay lady?” he asked as he raced to her side, afraid she may have been hurt. “Do I need to call a hospital or something?”
“Hahahahahahahahahaha, uh ho, uh ho, uh ho!” she laughed. “No I’m fine young man,” she smiled and Mike felt warm and secure when she did so. She started to stand up with her bags and dog under her arm but quickly collapsed back to her knees and butt. “Well maybe not perfectly fine,” she joked. “Maybe you can carry my bags for me?”
“Sure,” Mike smiled. As he picked up the packages, he guessed from the way they were wrapped that they were for Christmas. “Do you live close by?” Mike asked.
“Just down the block form your own home,” she smiled, making him feel warm and loved when she did so. She grabbed the dog(?) and led the way as Mike cheerily carried her things for her from behind. They walked humming Jingle Bell Rock all the way to the woman’s home where she invited him in for some hot chocolate.
“That was very nice of you Mike, to carry my packages al the way home for me.”
“No worries,” Mike smiled and waved her off. He was about to sip his hot chocolate when he suddenly stopped. “How did you know my name? I never told it to you.”
She smiled again, caught in her lie, and glad to be free of its pretense. “Do you know who I am Michael?”
“No,” he said a little nervously.
“Well I’m Mrs. Claus and I’ve been watching you, and I think you would be the very best addition to Christmas this year!”
“You’re kidding me!” Mike blurted out excitedly.
“Calm down Michael,” Mrs. Claus encouraged, “If you were to be part of Christmas it would be as Mrs. Claus, not Santa, and not, brrrr, an elf.”
“So I would be like you?” he asked for clarification.
“Exactly like me. If you drink that Hot Chocolate you will be just like me forever and ever-and you drank it all down. Well I guess we knew what your decision was.”
“How long until I change?” Mike clapped his hands excited for his shift in life.
“Well with that much Hot Chocolate you should be…”
