"Do you know what a mutant is, Wot?" asked Xavier "The mutant gene is a gene that turns up in only a small percentage of the population. This percentage develop extraordinary abilities. Like, well, like what you did earlier. This school is for people with this gene, where they can learn without having to worry about hurting anyone unnecessarily."
"Sounds like segregation to me," you said
"Unfortunately, mankind hates and fears mutants for the simple reason we were born different," said Xavier "But we are not segregating you, you can leave anytime you wish, we just find it safer, for mutants and humans alike, for mutants with potentially destructive abilities to learn to control those abilities in a safe and secure environment. Take Scott, our driver, for example. Without those shades, he would be constantly emitting beams of destructive energy from his eyes. If we had not found him, if he didn't destroy his own eyelids from keeping the energy contained, he most certainly would have caused untold damage to the area around him. And despite it not being his fault, humankind would see this as more evidence that mutants are the bad guys."
"And who was it that was hunting me?" you asked "Why am I so important?"
"Of that, we are unsure," said Xavier "He seems to be appearing everywhere we go, though, as if he is as powerful a telepath as I am."
"You can read my mind?" you asked, immediately trying to clear your mind.
"Only if I so choose," said Xavier "It would have driven me mad. When it first manifested, I thought I was hearing voices in my head. Then I realised, what I was hearing was in everyone else's head."
