Keli bit her lip a bit as she tried to think. "I'm not high enough to offer you a direct promotion... but my friend and I were talking the other day about how the head of her office is a bit short-staffed at the moment. If you do this for me I'm sure I could put in a good word for you and help you get a higher ranking job." she finally said as she rested a hand on your desk. "I can't promise anything, though I'm sure someone as talented as you would make a good first impression."
You couldn't quite tell if she was being serious or just trying to flatter you into doing her work for her. Still, you were ahead enough of your own work that you could probably still do this task and have plenty of time to get all of your normal paperwork filed and turned in on time. Of course, you wouldn't get anything done by just sitting here all day thinking about it...
