Deb looked over Madison's resume, which was typical of the job history for someone just entering college. Deb had held this job for around 9 years now after finishing undergrad at Powers. She liked it, but the 31 year old was starting to wonder if this was really it for her. Placing over-eager students in the correct line of employment at the recreation center got old after a while. The only big upside for Deb was the free rec center membership, which helped her keep a flawless body, despite 10 years of university lunches. She guessed the student in front of her would probably be taking advantage of the free gym as well, given her trim physique. "3 years swimming instructor in high school? Madison, that alone makes you qualified for this. When can you start?"
"Um," Madison was caught somewhat off-guard by the immediate offer. "I guess, now."
"Great." Deb said, "We had a lot of graduating seniors last year, so we are very low on life guards at the moment, let's get started by giving you a brief tour of our facilities."
Deb proceeded to show Madison around the pool, and it continued to impress. A new facility, Madison would be working in the front lines of the college facilities arms race. As they went to different stations, Madison met some of her future coworkers. There was Dave, a 5'10 junior who had a great body, and Madison could have swore he caught him checking her out. There was also Mitch, 6'1 a senior, who seemed to already be suffering from senioritis, but still went out of his way to be friendly. Next they walked by Meg, who was a sophomore and seemed to take a real liking to Madison. Finally, as the tour was wrapping up, Deb took Madison back to the office adjacent break room and another person came in.
"Katie, you're late." Deb said, somewhat sternly to the new girl. It was the first time that Deb seemed anything other than sunny during the tour, however, that was not the only thing that threw Madison off. Katie was quite chubby, many would say fat. The girl stood in stark contrast to everyone else that she had met on the tour, with their fit bodies and great attitudes. Deb continued, "Anyway, Katie, this is Madison, you're scheduled to work with her a few times this week. Since you're a senior, I hope you can show her the ropes."
"Yeah, I guess." Katie said, walking out of the room to start her shift.
