This choice: The training hall to try the upgrade • Go Back... "Well," Samus said to herself, "I suppose I should see how useful this 'upgrade' really is." While she had endeavored to keep the update for a while, the walk here had made her question that decision. With her new proportions, she was having difficultly moving any faster than a slow walk. It was starting to seem more like a downgrade than an upgrade; increasing her size and making her a bigger target, while also decreasing her speed. She was honestly considering yanking the upgrade chip out of her zero suit right now, and she probably would have if she wasn't afraid of what might happened if she didn't follow the proper procedures from removing an upgrade from her zero suit.
Plodding along into the training hall, Samus decided to test whether her decision to keep the Pear Upgrade was a smart one or not. To her surprise, the room was mostly empty, save for one lit up panel on the floor in the middle of the room, slightly raised up above the rest of the tiles. A pressure sensitive tile, she presumed. Normally she'd probably need her Power Suit to be heavy enough to activate one of these, but with her newly expanded rear, perhaps she could make this work. She walked up the the panel and stood on it, feeling it lower beneath her weight.
"Hm, that's one thing it can do, I guess." Regardless of one of her hypothetical uses for the upgrade being proved, she still didn't see it as all that useful. After all, this was still easily something she could have done with her Power Suit on, without sacrificing firepower and mobility. Speaking of her Power Suit. Samus realised another downside of this upgrade. With her lower half so large now, how would she fit inside her Power Suit? The negatives were still outweighing the positives.
Before Samus could think about anything else, one of the panels on the wall behind her suddenly, presumably caused by Samus stepping on the panel. A robot that looked somewhat similar to her Power Suit, although a bit smaller, scrawnier, and coloured grey, stepped out, and pointed its arm cannon at Samus. Samus unfortunately noticed its presence a little too late, and it was able to fire off a shot at her before she could do anything. The blast hit her right in the behind, but surprisingly, it didn't really hurt all that much. Sure there was still a bit of pain, and the force almost knocked her off balance, but the added padding cushioned the blow surprisingly well. Samus had really just been trying to come up with any possible positives she could think of before, but to think there was actually some truth to the idea that it wouldn't hurt as much definitely surprised her.
Now there was the problem of fighting back. Samus was able to pull out her Paralyzer fast enough, but turning around was another story. She was still having trouble adjusting to her current proportions, and so her turning around was slow and clunky. By the time she had turned around enough to get a clear shot at the robot, it had already charged up another shot, this time hitting her hand and knocking the paralyzer across the room. Normally she would have never lost her grip on her weapon like that, but she was caught off guard a bit by how painful the blast had been, considering how little the shot aimed at her rear seemed to hurt.
Now that she had been disarmed, the robot slowly approached her, probably seeing her as an easy target. Samus racked her brain for a way to beat this bot. She certainly wouldn't be outrunning the robot to get to her paralyzer with her current proportions. She remembered the three positives she had managed to come up with about this upgrade, two of which had been proven true. But the last one, that was just ridiculous, right? Still, she saw no better way of dealing with this. She turned to face the robot side on, putting the side without the chip in front. She didn't want to risk damaging the upgrade chip, after all. As soon as the robot was close enough, Samus leaped towards it with all her might, swinging her hips in its direction. Her hips connected with its chest, sending both of them tumbling to the ground, Samus now basically sitting on the robots chest.
After making sure the robot wasn't moving anymore, Samus stood back up. It seemed the weight of her behind had crushed the robot's chest. Samus didn't know whether to think of that as a good thing or a bad thing, but either way, she still doubted whether this held any real combat potential. Sure, she could beat a training robot like this, but not only was the robot not the brightest opponent, but it didn't seem to be constructed to solidly either. Her hips might still be able to knock people over with enough force behind them, but she doubted she'd be crushing anyone with her behind like she'd done to this robot.
As she walked over to retrieve her paralyser, Samus thought over the upgrade she still possessed. Sure, she had been able to list several hypothetical positives before, and all of those positives had been proven true, but Samus still wasn't sure if the pros outweighed the cons. Even if she got used to her current proportions, allowing her to hopefully regain some of her mobility, there was still the issue of how to squeeze her new hips into her Power Suit. The upgrade proved useful for defense for when her Power Suit wasn't available, but that wasn't too useful if it prevented her from using her Power Suit in the first place.
After weighing up both the pros and the cons, and getting her paralyser back, Samus left the training hall and... | Members who added to this interactive story also contributed to these: |
