This choice: started examine the scroll • Go Back...Chapter #3started examine the scroll by: Unknown You cleared your desk, which basically means unceremoniously stacking random bits of papers, books and the latest copy of Games magazine into a pile and depositing them beside the table, and unrolled the scroll. You blinked twice, the words on the top half of the front of the scroll were written in some sort archaic English letterings, yet you remembered the first time you examined it, instead of letters, there were symbols of various kinds. Symbols that you thought have seen in some tacky Greek movies. The lower half, intriguingly stayed in Latin. Flipping to the other side, you saw the same Latin letterings, only it was much shorter than the one at the front.
Minutes passed and seconds ticked by as you struggled to decipher the texts, the archaic English letterings seemed to be some sort of instruction. Your mind wandered back to the old man. He spoke about a certain 'unconquerable spirit', and some mumbo jumbo regarding priests and priestesses to the kings that existed hundreds of years ago, they were said to be very wise, often beyond their years as children are often groomed up to be priests or priestesses at a very young age. Just before Julia finished her shopping spree, the old man enigmatically closed the tale, stating that the civilization suddenly did not evolve anymore. Aside from the scroll which now you owned, there were potteries and other more important scroll that are kept in a museum in Russia. The archaic English pointed that reading the Latin text in the front page will activate 'spirit power' while the text at the back 'annul ethereal'.
Indeed when you googled up some of the Latin words, there were mentions about this 'unconquerable spirit', whatever it may be. There were also mentions about 'vessel'. You pieced them up together and read the translated version. Nothing happened. You tried again, this time, trying to make the disjointed sentences more coherent, as there were some words that weren't detected in translation websites. Still nothing.
You snorted, of course it would be stupid to expect something to happen, but it was a pretty good yarn the old man was spinning. Leaning back against the support of your chair, you hold up the scroll and read the Latin text at the front, trying your best to pronunciate the strange words, although of course, failing badly, but still able to mumble some words. 'Holy fuck!'', you exclaimed as the scroll was engulfed in bluish smoke, you dropped it quickly and stood up, much to your surprise, the bluish smoke followed you and phased right into your body.

The next moment you knew, you were looking at your somewhat transparent hands, the shock of losing your corporeal body, turned into panic as you realized the whole latin text on the front part of the scroll had been wiped clean. Using your ghostly hand, you tried to touch it, but the fingers weren't able to pick up anything nor touch anything. You realized that you have to read the latin inscription at the back of the scroll, but you need someone to turn the scroll around. | Members who added to this interactive story also contributed to these: |
