Chapter #4
Reconciliation
by: Unknown
You're still on your bed, fiddling with Mom's bra strap when the door creaks open. You look up. Your old body is peeking in. He finally steps inside, pushing the door all the way. You see how sheepish he looks. He holds his hands behind his back, and every now and then you notice the controller dangling by his back.
He hesitates. "Mom," he says, "I'm sorry I got angry. I think... I think you might be right. Somehow. And you think you're me, or, you actually are me. And this controller has something to do with."
You shoot up onto your feet. "I am you!" you plead. "At least, I was you ten minutes ago. I pressed a button on that controller when I heard Mom come in, and then, next thing I know, I'm standing at my door like this."
"That's so weird!" your body mutters. "But I remember picking up the controller. And I remember hitting the button when Mom came in, and then nothing happened."
"I guess the controller wipes your memory or something. Or maybe I've been switched into an alternate dimension where nothing happened except in the original dimension! And we've crossed streams--"
Your old body looks doubtful. You try again: "Whatever it is, trust that I'm you. I'm in our Mom's body. I want to change back. Whatever that means."
"I don't know," the new Jake says with a worried glance over his shoulder.
"What? What is it?" Something else occurs to you. "How did you figure out I was telling the truth?"
