The whole room was abuzz with noise as Jaden walked into the stands after beating Dr. Crowler, the teacher quickly got back up and acted like nothing had ever happened.
"Tell me that was the last duel." said Crowler angrily to one of the proctors.
"Well there is one more duelist," he said, "but they haven't..."
"WAIT!!!" came a loud shout.
Someone ran onto a duel field breathing heavy. They looked very strange in their baseball cap, large loose and baggy leather jacket with a baggy black shirt, and baggy blue jeans with holes in the knees. It very hard to tell if they were male or female.
"Sorry I'm late," the kid called, "I got lost like three times on the way here, and before that the train I would've taken was having maintenance."
"You can't be serious," said Crowler to the proctor, "another Slifer Slacker!?"
"Well sir," said the proctor, "we have to at least..."
"We don't need another one like that boy!" said Crowler, "Get rid of that kid!"
"Or you could let me duel." said a voice in the back of the room.
Crowler turned to see who spoke, and his blood turned cold at what he saw. A girl stood in the corner of the room in a black tank top that didn't cover her stomach and black miniskirt. The girl’s eyes were said to be blue, but who could tell looking through the orange lens of the girls black sunglasses. She had short black hair that only reached the end of her neck.
"Ms. Okami, you're a student," said Crowler, but still in a fearful tone, "You can't..."
"Come on," she said, "you think my dad would be happy if his little girl's enrollment was slowed down because you couldn't find a proctor."
"Well..."
"Don't worry,” said the girl, “like your Chancellor said, I could out duel most teachers, so beating me will be real a test.”
The girl left to enter the arena, the proctor stopped her and asked, “Aren’t you going to use a pre-made deck.”
“I think I’d rather follow Dr. Crowler’s example and use my own,” she said, “same for the kid down there.”
With that she exited, but soon was on the opposite side of the field opposing the kid.
By this time Jaden had found a seat in the front row as close to the action as possible.
“This should be fun to watch,” he said, “a student dueling a student, now this is the kind of thing dueling was made for.”
“You,” said the black haired girl as she removed her sunglasses and sat them on top of her head revealing her blue eyes, “It’s customary that both duelists see all of each other’s face and know at least their opponent’s name. I’m Kurai Okami. I would like you to show me this same respect.”
Kurai saw a smile curl across the kid’s face. The kid grabbed its hat and threw it to the wind to reveal long, bright red, hair that reached the small of the kid’s back. The kid also shook of its jacket to reveal a slender, feminine frame. The feminine theory was proven true by the sound of the voice that came next and what she said.
“My name is Pyra Dan Basuto. It’s my dream to be the world’s greatest female duelist.” she activated a duel disk, “now let’s get this duel fired up shall we!?!”
