William held his torch up to the brightly colored item which lay on the floor in front of him. It was small, less than an inch in length, and was decorated with a pink and yellow swirl. Curiously, William reached his hand down towards the item and it twitched. William reached again and it jumped away from him. "Hey!" he shouted as he followed the strange thing deeper into the cave.
The item scurried around a corner and into a dead end. As William turned he saw it climb up a wall, and on that wall other brightly colored stones with playful patterns adorned the wall like gems. A hissing sound echoed throughout the chamber and without warning small, spider-like legs extended from one of the "candies". The candybug, for that is what it was, leapt onto William's chest and crawled up onto his face. William's mouth opened up in horror, and the candybug crawled in.
