Chapter #5

Attempt to access the Developer Console

by: tale spinner Author IconMail Icon
Nate decided that playing as a little girl could be fun... for maybe a few minutes... and that if anyone knew a 30 year old man was pretending to be an 8 year old girl they may get weirded or creeped out Nate wondered if he could access a Developer Console and potentially get god like powers inside this simulation. Nate decided to assume there was some way he could access the Developer Console, and now had to come up with the answer to "How would the Developers make a Developer Console accessible in VR land?"

"Dev Console, Developer Console, Dev, Developer, Console, God Power Activate, Testing, ..." Nate said riddling out terminology that he could imagine being associated with a Developer Console. Sometimes as the little girl she'd try hand gestures or raising her arms forward, and thankfully it seemed like no one seemed to pay too much attention to a little girl playing pretend coder or something. Nate thought "Either it's some obscure word or sound pattern that I'll never guess or..." Nate looked to his hands and arms and started moving them and thought "Considering I can move this little girl's body... Maybe accessing a Dev Console is more similar to moving a muscle?" Nate used imagery to imagine a Developer Console pop up in front of him and... nothing. That wasn't it... But Nate was not going to give up. He spent too long doing idiotic things not to get some reward...

Nate snapped the girl's fingers as he thought "What if the Dev console was always active and you just needed the right code? Or maybe thinking of a certain code activates the Dev console?" Assuming that worked what kind of codes would have been made in a life simulator? Having the Dev console in mind Nate kinda willed Player.Stats and then a list of numbers appeared in front of her that seemed to be random. Some values were just 1's or 0's some of which Nate assumed were Boolean, and others seemed like random numbers that were either static, randomly changing, increasing, or decreasing. The only issue was that Nate had no idea what numbers did what and changing any of them could probably do anything to the little girl he inhabited. Nate looked away for a second and the screen went away. Experimenting Nate looked at a little boy playing in the sand and this time instead of thinking of Player.Stats Nate focused on the boy and replaced "Player" with the intention of the NPC boy and another list of numbers appeared in front of Nate. Nate didn't exactly remember what numbers she had, but there were differences to be sure. Nate thought about Player.Stats again and thankfully Nate could have two stat windows open at the same time making comparing easier. That said barely knowing anything about who the girl was or who the boy was would make figuring out what numbers did what significantly harder. Still this was progress.

Nate grinned thinking about how he was in this simulation to get away from work coding... He supposed he was doing this to gain a form of omnipotence, and anyways he was getting away from coding as work. Not coding as a fulfillment of a power fantasy... Still Nate had access to the Dev Console, and while he knew he could compare stats and maybe try to manipulate them... maybe it would be better if he attempted to figure out more commands other than finding stats?

You have the following choices:

1. Try manipulating stats

*Noteb*
2. Try to figure out more commands

*Noteb* indicates the next chapter needs to be written.
