Jayce attempted the turn the door handle but found it surprisingly difficult. The old lock must have rusted on the inside. The defender tried to giggle it, careful not to damage the expensive debonair suit he was wearing. Unforuntately the door seemed to have the will of the ancients because it wasn't until he almost had to slam against the door that it finally opened.
Unfortunately as he did, his device went flying out of his pockets and as he opened the door, it went and landed on the floor upside down, activating the button that was on it's face. Instantly a ultraviolet light engulfed the room and Jayce shielded his eyes. Within mere moments the light was gone. and the room dimmed once more.
"Shit..." Jayce looked down at the device, lying in pieces on the floor beside his feet. The stupid thing had smashed itself into little pieces. At least it didn't hit anybody right? Jayce quickly scanned the room. It looked empty enough, probably a guest house, with fancy curtains and a cream covered cover over a queen sized bed. Nearby was a nightstand, a tall mirror and a closet. The mayor probably kept rooms like these in case a guest wanted to stay over. Seemed like nobody wanted to. Go figure.
Jayce sighed and ran his hand through his hair. It was no big deal. He had other copies of the device back in his workshop. He should probably get something to carry the pieces together though, and his pocket was not an option. Maybe the room had something. The mayor probably wouldn't mind if he just looked around, right?
