You nearly screamed, seeing the cloaked woman standing outside the window. She grinned, catching your eye, causing you to shiver. You were about to scream for dad when the woman walked into the sitting room as if the window was nothing but an open door. Seeing this stunned you into a fearful silence but you managed to keep your wits about you. With a wave of your hand, the two books you were examining vanished from sight.
"You have nothing to fear, child." seeing your move, the woman said. "I mean you no harm. In fact, I was summoned here to assist you."
"Assist me how?" finding your voice, you asked. "Who summoned you? Who are you?"
"So many questions." shaking her head, the woman sighed. "However, I understand your caution..."
With that, she slowly removed her cloak, revealing a slender young woman in her early twenties. She had long, flowing honey blond hair and piercing blue-green eyes. "First, I am here to assist you in learning the use, control, and laws of magic." serious, the woman said. "Second, your father summoned me as he is not comfortable with you teaching yourself a power he can not grasp nor is he willing to send you away where he can not follow to learn it." she sighed, extending her hand. "Lastly, I am Nina Vague. It is a pleasure to meet you, Jessica Moray."
"I have been studying magic for nearly a year now, Nina." politely shaking her hand, you said. "I think I have the basics down."
Nina giggled. "Do you now?" smiling, she asked. "Would you mind if I test that?"
"How would you test it?" curious, you asked.
Nina smiled, pointing to a mousy face peering into the room. "That, I believe, is your youngest brother, Mat." whispering, she said. "If I were to make him your younger sister, could you change 'her' back?" seeing your startled look, she added, "It's a simple spell, that is if you know the basics."
You knew how to change a person's gender, it was a simple spell as Nina had said. Also, you had planned to use it on one of your brothers to have some fun later but you did not want to change Mat. He thought girls were from another planet as it was, you did not want to strengthen that belief. You sensed Nina was about to cast the spell, you had only second to decide what to do.
