Jessica recalled the days of long past, when she would tease her father that she would become even bigger than her very father. Being realistic, Tanner knew better that his powers didn't allow for anyone or anything to be bigger than him or to steal his powers from his very being. However, the Growth God took in great delight in hearing the words that would come from his daughter's lips every time since she was just 4 years old:
"I'm going to be bigger than you one day, daddy, just you wait." She would giggle, then run off.
She would wish for it, she would drop pennies, nickels, dimes, quarters, half-dollars, and dollar coins into wishing wells and fountains, she would wish for it on her birthday - as she would blow off the candles, and even to wishing stars, she would offer the same wish.
To be a Giant.
Finally, after countless tries. After so many days where she would say to her father that she would best him in size and scale, after many disappointing days that told her that she wasn't an inch taller - her 17th birthday would soon be. A day that signified the coming-of-age, and with that, one more swing at making her favorite wish. She saw her birthday cake, seventeen candles lit, and the words: "To my precious, (and hopefully) Gigantic Growing Girl - Jessica."
She would look at her father, to which he smiled tenderly back at her. She knew that her father was hoping for the day that her time would come as well. She smiled big, hugged her father, and promised him one more time:
"After I make my wish, I'm going to grow even BIGGER than you daddy." She giggled, as she looked back to her cake, closed her eyes, and made one final wish attempt. As she did so, she felt an odd sensation from inside her belly. It was a sort of… tingling sensation. It quickly disappeared, and with that, her wish was made. She blew off her candles, and she hugged everyone around her, laughed, ate cake, and enjoyed her 17th birthday with friends and family. Everyone was having a great time: Gifts to be had, friendships to be made, and family bonding was more than plenty upon this faithful day of merry.
However, not all was what it seemed in this image of family and friends, as her father and mother had to both head off for work tomorrow - which meant assignments for the two, and plenty of time for the young one to revel in her new found independence. But for now, it was a joyous time for young Jessica to enjoy.
Time passed, and it was closing night for everyone. Clean up was a breeze, and everyone either had headed home, or was heading off to their rooms. All except one man - Jessica's father: Tanner. He was heading towards Jessica's room in order to obtain the time for a Father-Daughter talk about her new independent life. He started by opening the door, and greeting his daughter - who was resting upon her bed. Manga Doujins in toe, Jessica saw her dad come in, and welcomed him inside.
"Hey dad, come on in." Jessica's cheerful disposition greeted him.
"Thank you." He opened the door, and closed it right behind him. "So… you are now 17… heh… it was almost a lifetime ago when you first started saying that you planned on getting bigger than your father."
"And I know I WILL." Jessica giggled happily.
"See, that is what I wish to talk to you about."
"Oh?"
"See… what inspired you several years ago - to start saying such, was your uncle Alan - as he grew into an enormous Giant himself, right?"
"RIGHT!" Jessica would reply with excitement.
"Your Uncle and I… your mother as well, as well as everyone that you know and love - even Kika-chan, all share the love of growth with ONE simple knowledge."
"What knowledge is that?"
"You never settle for less," he happily replied, "rest assured, dearest Jessica, your love for growth will be rewarded. And when that day comes, I'm certain you will become even BIGGER than myself."
Jessica's eyes would lit up a brilliant blue sparkle. "You really think so dad?"
"I know so." Her father would smile.
Jessica would gasp quietly, glomp her father, and giggle happily.
That was the end to a wonderful day - however, little did Jessica knew, that the "tingling" sensation would return, and so would begin her quest to becoming a Goddess.
