"Michael, you should probably start walking," said Michael's mother. "Remember, no TV before dinner, do homework first. Oh, you don't need your backpack today. I'll see you after school! Bye, honey!"
And so Michael began his half-mile walk. He has walked this route many times last year, so he has no problem walking it again. This trip, however, seemed different. With every step, a small vibration traveled up his leg and across his body. He froze, and the vibrations stopped. Figuring it was nothing, the vibrations started again as Michael continued walking.
At last he arrived at school. It was 7:54 when he arrived, and school starts at 8:00, so he hurriedly went to his new classroom and sat down. The teacher, Mrs. Putz, introduced herself in front of the class and began to take roll. Naturally, Michael came last, with his last name beginning with Y.
As Mrs. Putz called out Michael's name, she looked at him and said in a confused tone, "What have your parents been feeding you?" Then she started giving instructions.
Soon, recess came, and Michael went and hid himself. He was nervous despite his mother's solace, especially since the weird vibrations came every step he took. He doesn't know this, but the vibrations he feels makes him taller. He is now four foot one, a full six inches from this morning.
The rest of the day came by quickly, and Michael, who is expecting his friend over at his house when he comes home, breaks into a run. As his speed increases, the vibrations increase more. At this point Michael tried his best to ignore them.
Michael opened the unlocked door, only to see his brother Percy waiting for him. "What's up, Shorts?" he taunts.
Suddenly Percy freezes, then turns around. "Dude!" he yells. "Looks like Shorts isn't that short anymore."
Michael became confused, as Tony yells, "Whoa! Tell him to measure up."
"Measure up," Percy commands, as he grabs Michael and pushes him to the measuring ruler. Michael finally understood the vibrations. How tall is he now?
