Leanora Anderson walked towards her home, trying to hold the tears in her eyes. Leanora, or Lena as her family and friends called her, was a 17 year old high school junior. She stood about 5' 8" with long, blonde hair and clear blue eyes. She was an ordinary girl, neither smart nor athletic. Ordinary in every way, or so she thought.
Lena reached the door to her house, her heart pounding. All day long she had been hearing voices. It started as soon as she got up in the morning. She thought she heard her father speak on the telephone. She dismissed it as her imagination. It only got worse when at school. Wherever she was, even when she was far from anybody, she could hear conversations. What was happening to her? Was she going crazy?
Lena opened the door, hoping her father wasn't home. She had been living alone with him since her mother abandoned them when she was five. As she entered the empty living room, she took a deep breath and called out, "Dad, are you home?"
After a few seconds of silence, Lena relaxed a little. Then she heard a familiar voice reply. "Yes, Lena, I'm here." A moment later a man in his mid 40s enter the living room. "How was school today?" Joe Anderson asked.
