"According to your files, she is in the same class as you are, a miss Stacy Rodger." the woman in scrubs tells Lisa.
"Stacy? Really? I wonder why?" Lisa mumbled.
"It's a two week rental, it ends when you both return from your senior class trip. She mentioned that she wanted to hang out more with your best friend Megan before college starts."
"I see." Lisa answered. Lisa was surprised. She was actually expecting someone she didn't know. That would have made it easier in some way. Staying inside Stacy's life, would mean she had to take the same trip as herself and Megan. That would mean she had to see Stacy in her life, hanging around with Megan. "Well I guess I said yes before, so how does this work?
"It's pretty simple," the woman said, gesturing for Lisa to proceed into one of the small rooms off the hallway. "You'll need to change into the robe there, and we'll take your clothing over to Ms. Rodger. Then, lie down on the chair in the center of the room and relax. At that point, we do all the work to make sure you have all of the skills you'll need to live Ms. Rodgers life for the next two weeks, and that people think you are her and vice versa. During the process, you'll be asleep. When you wake up, for the next two weeks, you will be Ms. Rodgers, and she'll be Lisa Hale. After that, you get dressed in the clothing she wore here, drive off in her car, and spend the next two weeks being her while she vacations. There's a packet of information that we've compiled to help you live her life, just like the packet you helped us put together for her to live yours. Any questions?"
"You said I shouldn't talk to her about things... is there a reason?"
"For the most part, it's because it creates confusion. It brings the client out of their escape, and even while they are living your life, they have to 'be their real self again' to talk to you. It's a bit dissonant, and stressful, and if other people over hear the conversation, it can get very awkward. Our general advice is to keep your interactions minimal. Of course with you being in the same class, that might become difficult sometimes, but nothing you can't handle, I would reckon."
"Okay, that makes sense," Lisa said, neatly folding her clothes and settling down into the chair. "I guess I'm ready then."
